Sounds very similar to how angry a lot of Celtics fan will be if Rondo is traded, the difference is because we're C's fans we give Danny the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah, that's a pretty ridiculous statement.  First, we paid a heavy price for KG.  Second, Ainge also made a very good trade to get Ray, and his draft picks have been spectacular overall.  I mean, if Ainge doesn't draft Big Al and Rondo, we don't win a championship.

Wilbon is generally one of my favorite sports commentators.  I don't agree with him, but he most definitely is someone who has a legitimate opinion to give.  I don't always catch PTI, but when it's on I like watching the show.

He's usually pretty good, and I think a lot of people out there still view the trade in the same light as him.  I don't agree with that opinion, but there is no denying we got the better end of the deal so far.

I am so sick of the media saying the Celtics got KG for nothing and its because McHale is a former Celtics. The Wolves got an all-star caliber big man who's put up 20 and 10 the past two season (early 20's too), cap sapce in Ratliff's contract, a solid forward is Gomes, a player considered a good prospect in Green, a back-up pg (Telfair) and 2 first rounders. Its lazy journalism to perpetuate this myth.

Second, the same media NEVER says the same thing about the Gasol deal, even though longtime Laker Jerry West works for Memphis and that was a BS deal.

Also Ainge made a good move trading for Ray and Rondo, drafting Perkins and Jefferson etc.

Wilbon made a very stupid statement.

Wilbon likes to take big, extreme stances on things. Its a show designed to entertain--no need to take those two talking heads seriously.

You'd think Minnesota fans, or NBA fans in general, could just be happy that KG got moved. Honestly, a guy with that much talent and that much heart deserved a legitimate shot at a championship. If Minnesota let themselves get short-changed (which I'm not necessarily saying they did), maybe they took into consideration that they owed KG for his loyalty and his efforts.

that said though i do like wilbon, but as someone else stated its a show to entertain or at the least get people talking , thank god not the the steven (listen to me) smith level

I personally think ainge has done a GREAT job and voted early on that he could get an A for his work (can't remember exactly what the topic was) if everything worked out.  It did !  I think ainge and scouts have done a phenomenal job on drafts, he also seems to understand what is good for team.  I don't like all the rondo rumors but I'm at the point if danny moves him to improve team then I'd go along.

This is the part that baffles me when people like Wilbon, Stephen A. Smith/ insert talking head here, and others say assinine things like " trading for KG  was his only good move. Who knows what Ainge was up to these last few years but this is a move that I can get behind ".

Ainge's Bio on Hoopshype has the KG trade listed as his best transaction. Really? Trading for a top 5 NBA player is a stroke of genius? Better than drafting the second best player in his class at pick 15? Better than getting Rondo for a future first rounder? Have people like Wilbon ever heard the terms trade chips, roster value, or simply cause and effect? How can they not connect the dots?

the "we got kg for nothing and only because ainge and mchale are buddies" argument is insane. we gave up an insane amount for kg, more than anyone else was supposedly offering. a young 20/10 PF who should be an all-star for the next decade in big al, a great contract in ratliff, a solid 3/4 rotation player in gomes, a guy who has enough talent to be a starting PG in telfair, an extremely talented raw talent (who didn't work out, but was clearly tantalizing in his ability) in green, plus 2 #1 picks. that's not junk. that's as good as any team could ever hope to get. unlike the garage sale run by jerry west where he sent an all-star PF in gasol to his beloved lakers for literally nothing but spare parts. insane. ainge deserves a world of credit for getting the talent to pull of the kg deal, and willing to do it (especially since other GMs balked at lesser offers).
