I'm starting to think it's a losing cause hoping that Danny keeps Rondo and signs him to an extension. His recent criticisms does sound like greasing of the wheels for a trade. If Rondo is traded we need to get great value back. Rodney Stuckey isn't great value. Conley isn't great value. Rubio is the only guy we could conceivably get that is.
Rubio is only 18 and would have been a HS senior if he was from America. He held his own in the second best league in the world this past year and at the age of 17, and with an injury, almost led Spain over the US in the gold medal game. Obviously he wasn't the star. But the C's don't need a star right now with the big three still on board. Rubio will be a star though in 2 years. When Rubio was playing with people his age a yr before he scored 50 in a game and had 26 assists. His passing and court vision is in that rare company of Magic, Kidd, Nash, Bird, and Maravich. He's won awards for his defense and his shot will improve. I don;t see Rubio becoming any less of a player than Jason kidd, but with a more charismatic personality. Rubio speaks English rather fluently and is the kind of player that when the big three retires, players will want to come to Boston to play with.
Andre Miller would be the perfect stop gap at the point for the next two years. Rubio could start out as the backup. If we have to lose Rondo, we need to get back Rubio.

Wow I hope not. Talk about a downgrade. He averaged like what in Euroleague? 9 points 4 assists?

It was higher than that, but I wonder what Derrick Rose would have averaged as a HS senior if he played in that league.

Good point. I think Rubio will be huge.
Right now, though, I'll keep Rajon  ;)

With a team like ACB in the Euroleague?

Probably like 126ppg and 8apg

Danny already set it up, He said he is not that high on Rubio and he love Tyreke Evans. If you ask me he's saying this now so if he does have a chance to draft one or the other he is taking Evans.
His whole interveiw on WEEI today was just a set up for what he's going to do.
Think about, he down talks Rondo publicly and then he says Rubio is not as good as Evans and Rubio is more of a project. He went as far as saying Rondo cost them games with not having a jumper and that he is not a max salary guy!
Where trading Mephis ...
Rondo
Ray
Scal and fillers

For..
Gay
Conley/ I wish it was May
#2 pick Evans
It would be nice if we could work in Gasol.
L.A. Clippers
Derrick Rose Blake Griffin 4.11 5.3 5.15 6.11 7.15 8.11 9.15 10.11 11.15 12.11 13.15

There is no way Memphis gives up Gay, Conley and the number 2 for Rondo. Maybe 2 of the 3 (maybe), but no way they give up all three.

I don't know why Memphis is viewed as a good destination for Rondo. Memphis is putting their future in OJ Mayo's hands - he'll be dominating the ball at all times. They don't need a point guard who handles all the time, just one who can hit open shots, play defense and pass (generally to Mayo). I don't think there's anything to this particular rumor.
Go Celtics.

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Wow the prevalent anti Euro bias is kind of disappointing. Aren't we supposed to have the most knowledgeable fans? You don't have to be American to be a quality NBA player.

Dirk Nowitzki. Pau Gasol. Steve Nash. Pietrus. There are plenty of foreigners who are good. They are also not children. Ricky Rubio is like the child star of the Euroleague. I have nothing against those European players who are actually men and actually have the musculature to compete in the NBA. I only have something against weak little kids who put up who put up 9 and 4 against a lower tier of competition.

Rondo for Rubio is terrible for a team trying to win this year.

Needs to be a PG that can step in and play at the very least.

dude I am starting to think these Rondo trade rumors are just negotiation tactics by Ainge to get him to accept less money.  It's borderline retarded to trade the kid after he played this well in the playoffs.

But just to feed the monster...

I don't think Memphis will have the #2 pick.  The rumors have been that neither Rubio or Thabeet are willing to play in Memphis.   They'd be dumb to take Evans #2.  It's more likely that they trade with the Timberwolves (who want to move up) by sending the #2 for the #5 and #18. (Wolves have 4 first round picks)...

So maybe if you're looking for a 3rd part from Memphis to include along with Gay and Conley you should start talking about the 5th or 18th pick.

You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talking... you talking to me? Well I'm the only one here. Who the (expletive) do you think you're talking to? Oh yeah? OK.

In the Gold Medal game due to injuries Rubio, a 17 year old and injured himself, played against CP3 and Kidd and Spain almost pulled off the upset. When I wrote "led" I wasn't implying he was the star. Rudy was. Point guards are leaders imo and that's what I meant.
