c. none of the above
at that time walker was at his prime, one of my fav C's
i think walker and pierce was the one the top 5 one two punches of all time.
thats all
Top 5 really?
Bird/McHale
Garnett/Pierce
Jordan/Pippen
Kobe/Gasol
Duncan/Robinson
Shaq/Kobe
Magic/Kareem
Cousy/Russell
Hondo/Russell
Hondo/Cowens
Those are just the ones I could think off quickly, and they are all better 1/2 combos than Pierce/Walker.
I'd buy All-Time Celtics 1/2
I can't even buy that. Pierce/Garnett are better and then you can add in any number of player combinations with Russell/Bird/Hondo and you'd easily get five one two combos that were better and probably won titles.
Yeah, but they weren't 1/2 combos by themselves. they were 1/2/3/4/5 combos.
Pierce and Walker had 3 other guys on the court with them too. The combined talent of all the combinations I mentioned just taking the top two players and ignoring the team are still better than Walker/Pierce.
My point is that6 a 1/2 combination means that their are no other potent weapons in the starting 5. Those other teams had equally potent weapons in the starting 5.
I'm afraid you'd have to point me to where the term 1/2 combination excludes having a quality team around you.
Jordan/Pippen and Kobe/Shaq are the classic 1/2 punches since the 90s right? Both pairs had [dang] good teams around them.
The drop off in talent from MJ/ Scottie to Horace grant in huge. 1/2 punch should be All-Stars surrounded by Role players. In Russell's case, Sam Jones, Tommy Heihnson and bob Cousy are not Role Players. Neither were DJ, Cornbread and Parrish.
I just don't see why 1/2 punch would imply
anything about the rest of the team.
Even narrowing that criteria I don't see Pierce/Walker cracking the top 5.
Jordan/Pippen Kobe/Shaq, Stockton/Malone, Barkley/Johnson, Duncan/Robinson
Those are just from my lifetime of watching basketball. If you went to the 80s and farther you could find more.
