the NBA has had some amazing players make the all-star team, and some guys you look back and say, how the heck did he make it?

I offer up the 2 worst I can think of:

BJ Armstrong 93-94 (Jordan playing baseball) - av. 15 and 4 assists that year

and Chris Gatling 96-97 - his wikipedia page says: "Gatling is best known for his frequent use of the headband as an accessory to his NBA uniform" - not usually the mark of an all-star calibre player - he did put up 19 and 8 boards that year if I remember correctly he was a 6th man that year too

AC Green in 89-90, when he averaged a whopping 12.9 pts and 8.7 reb.  To compare, Magloire had 13.6 pts and 10.3 reb in his All-Star year.

The worst was this past year, Allen Iverson. He was awful this year no where near the player Jameer, Rondo, Harris, or even Williams was.

"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."

Grant Hill during the 96-97 season in which the very intelligent fans voted him despite missing a majority of the first half of the season.
Carl: And, technically, he's supposed to be spayed, and uh, he ain't that. I know that first hand. Go ahead, ask me how I know. Go ahead. Ask me. Ask me how I know.

Kobe Bryant.

This is true.  The first time he was voted an All Star in 97-98, he wasn't starting and he wasn't even the best SG on his own team (Eddie Jones was).  He put up a measly 15 points, 2 assists, and 3 boards a game while shooting 42% from the field that year.

I second the BJ Armstrong nomination.  That was pretty bad.

Dan Majerle made the All Star team three times, and he really wasn't that good.
