also downplayed the importance of the PG position and that you just need "good players" citing the success of this year's Lakers and Jordan's Bulls who didn't have any real PG.

so if you think they are entertaining dealing Rondo, this interview would certainly not dissuade you from that idea

someone told me that he talked about doing a sign-and-trade next offseason - any details on that?

I picked up the interview about halfway through.  No idea.

come on Donoghus, didn't you know that your new role is to stalk Ainge wherever he goes and give us all the latest updates?

Haha...I know.  I'll definitely get on it better next time.

well ainge on rondo is matching what the source said about doc....it sounds to me they are tired of this....what changed? maybe the c's have a deal in place allowing ainge to prep the masses...if anything they don't sound like they want to invest a ton of money into that rondo will demand..very interesting

the comment about not needing a great PG to win it all has been the most telling comment yet....gotta feeling mike conley will be running the point next year in boston...

memphis gets a PG....they then trade their pick (#2) to the T wolves for their 2 picks and draft theebet and someone else....

Im not listening to this but based on what everybody is saying, im definitly thinking Ainge is trying to spin the publics opinion to get ready for a deal.  I am pretty nervous to say the least...

i just hope if they trade rondo...they have the exact targets they are going to go after in free agency...someone like andre miller has to be up on the list....i would like to see 3 guys added in free agency...but IF this deal is with memphis...they address the wing issue that has hurt them last year...

So heres a question, since my status on the blog is currently Rajon Rondo, what happens if they trade him.  Do i have to go to a grizzlies blog? Is there such a thing?

Of course all of this is coming from a man who won both his championships in Boston playing next to the should-be-in-the-Hall-of-Fame-PG Dennis Johnson.  He also conveniently overlooks the Spurs success with Tony Parker, the Piston's title with Chauncey Billups, and the Isaiah Thomas led Pistons.  Also, that loser Cousy certainly didn't help the C's do anything.

While Ainge is right that a superstar PG may not be a prerequisite for a title, with the wide range of NBA champions we've seen over the years, you could say that about any position.

Hopefully he's not using this faulty logic to rationalize trading Rondo.

More Ainge on Rondo:  he didn't play well in the Orlando series, not sure if top 5 PG but definitely top 10.   Not exactly boosting Rondo's trade value with all these criticisms.

We have no intention of trading you.  We love you.  We wish you were more consistent and showed up on time more, but we're very happy with you going forward.  We'll never say never and we'll listen to all offers but we expect you to be here for the upcoming season.

You automatically become a memphis fan, they ban your access to celticsblog and you lose all your TPs...kidding!!!!!!!!!  ;D ;)

I was wondering too when there were rumours about Ray Allen being traded, which...it is still possible ::)

Good question.  I am at a Leon Powe, what happens if he doesn't come back?!  Gotta make more posts.

Anyone think that a lot of these "rumors" are being blown out of poportion because of the notion of this draft being weak.

"Well we made a couple of key trades . . . and we got The Funk."

Does anybody think that there may be feelings related to Rondo's Stubborness of him again taking a back seat to the big three.  With KG being out so long Rondo really became our third scoring option. I wonder if there are concerns that he got used to it and wont be able to adapt back.
