After hearing about the proposed trade with Detroit, it makes me think that letting James Posey was was even dumber than I originally thought . In the trade we are giving up the better PG and SG just to get a solid wing man defender off the bench that can play D and knock down 3's.

Here's the thing, Prince is making 10 MIL a year which is 5 MIL more than Posey is making a year and is basically the same player. Posey is a few years older , but still can play at a high level and was a HUGE chemistry guy. I just don't get it Danny, I am with you on most of the moves you make , but letting Posey go was just dumb. If you weren't going to pay Posey 5-6 MIL a year, why are you going to pay Prince 10-11 MIL a year ?

Posey is making a contract that far outweighs his talent. Prince is a legitimate starter and was an All Star. Posey gets more and more overrated by the day.

Prince isn't 5 MIL a year better than Posey, he may be slightly better, but if you look at their career stats they are pretty [dang] close, plus Posey has more rings.

I love Posey as much as the next guy but Celt couldn't get stuck with the contract NOs gave him. NOs is already trying to get out of that contract. With the injuries we had this year Posey wouldn't have got us through Orlando or Cleveland.

He sure would have helped against Turkoglu and Lewis , Plus he would have given Pierce some rest throughout the season and save his legs for the playoffs.  He isn't ancient either still only 32.

I gotta go with Rondohondo on this one. Rondo, Allen, and Posey > Stuckey, Hamilton, and Prince. The only thing that Tayshaun does that James Posey doesnt is block shots.

Prince can handle the ball a lot better.

I thought Prince would end up being a better player than he is. He just didn't improve much from his first few years.

Good points. But once Powe went down our front court was done. Perk had to play to many foul free minutes and Moore was lost out there. I'd do Prince and Hamilton for Ray but throwing Rondo in the mix and getting Stucky back would hurt us. Stucky isn't a passing point guard and isn't half the point guard tha Rondo is.

Prince...was an All Star.

I've seen this a few times lately.  What year did that happen again?

It didn't. He's been all-defensive second team four times though.

His defense has suffered as he's gotten old for some reason. I'm not sure why though.

He's always struggled with big strong 3s, but other than that he's been a very good defender over the whole of his career.

Still I thought he'd be a much better player than he became. He really didn't make a big leap after his first two years, I thought he would.

My bad. I knew 4 pistons got into the ASG that one year and assumed Prince was one of them. It was actually, Sheed, ben, Rip and chauncey.

Fair enough, thanks for clarifying.  I could be wrong about this, but if I recall correctly, I think there was a point in that game where the guy running with the four Pistons was actually none other than Paul Pierce.
