Just read on ESPN that there may be some interest in Yao getting acquired by the Cavs.

Here is the link http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4272395

Doubt this will happen but just thought I'd post it anyhow.
Carl: And, technically, he's supposed to be spayed, and uh, he ain't that. I know that first hand. Go ahead, ask me how I know. Go ahead. Ask me. Ask me how I know.

I'd be mad if this happened...I like Yao and I'd have to dislike him if he were on the Cavs.

I don't think this would make the Cavs that much better, though.  They already have a sort of Yao-like center (really tall, can hit midrange shots and finish near the basket, but gets pushed around kind of easily.  Yao is of course much better than Big Z, but I don't think he's what the Cavs really need.

Not to mention that Yao can't seem to finish a season because of injuries.

Yao is the best low post center in the game today. His skill set is similar to Z's but Z no longer can go into the post against most players. Yao would be a massive upgrade for the Cavs, if healthy.

I don't see what Cleveland has to offer for Yao. Yao is the best offensive center in the NBA and the second best center overall. This isn't simply a matter of matching salaries as in the proposed Shaq deal, the salaries have to match and Houston has to get star/potential star talent back. Cleveland doesn't have enough to offer.

Doesn't matter - he can't handle a full season.

Probably blowing smoke to get the Suns to pull the Shaq deal.

Yao can opt out though. So he could sign as FA there, that is much more likely than a trade.

No, I agee, Yao is a lot better than Z, but I don't think Cleveland would be a ton better with Yao instead of Z.  Maybe they would.  In any case, it's not going to happen so I'm not worried.

As great as Yao is I imagine any team that would think of trading for him would have to be very concerned about his injury issues.

Of course they'd be concerned, but when you have a big man that good you roll the dice anyways. Still I hope he overcomes his foot issues like Z has, and doesn't make everyone think of Bill Walton.

Unless Houston was getting Lebron back, they are not trading Yao.

Just think of all the money he makes for them overseas.

And how many guys in the league are that skilled and big?

Today i heard Rick Kamlin say on Fox Sports radio that there is no chance of Yao going to the cavs but he gives the rumor that Shaq joining the cavs a 90%chance and very soon.

Yeah, I'm expecting Shaq on the Cavs too.  I think he'll damage their team chemistry, though, and I don't think they're going to be as good this year, though they'll still be tough in the playoffs.

Could pull a Miami though, and win it the year after they were the best team during the regular season.

Maybe, but I have a hard time believing that if the Celtics or Lakers are at full strength this year ONE of them wouldn't beat the Cavs.  Shaq makes a big difference but probably not enough of a difference (at 37 or however old he is now) to make them good enough to go from losing in the ECF to the Magic to winning in the Finals.

I think the C's with Garnett or the Cavs would have beaten the Lakers in 6.

Shaq isn't enough but they were good enough to win it this year. I still can't believe they didn't trade Wally for some help....
