Yeah, that makes no sense unless something pretty good was going back to NJ along with the #2.  Harris for Mayo and the #2, maybe?  That, I can see as an offer.

Normally I would say no way Memphis would make a deal like that, but then again, it is Memphis. I would hope that Memphis would receive more back than just Harris. Sure, he's a great point guard but I really think Mayo will be a star soon. Maybe Mayo, Conley, #2 for Harris, Yi and some fillers?

That sounds even worse. Imo Conley> Yi

The #2 pick is a lot more valuable than Devin Harris.

Great trade for NJ if they could convince the Grizzlies to do it.

Are you serious?

Devin Harris is a known quantity - an All-Star PG - who will in all likelihood be very solid for quite some time.

The #2 pick in this draft will, at best, be used on a player who may be an All-Star at some point in the next 5 years, or maybe never.

How is the #2 pick more valuable?

I'm not sure how this is true.  Harris is a young all-star who is one of the best scorers in the league, and also a plus-distributor.

Devin Harris is a slightly above average starting point guard who can't run an offense to save his life.

Ricky Rubio has star potential. I'm picking Rubio over Harris every time.

My Top 15 Point Guards

1-5 -- Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Tony Parker, Chauncey Billups, Rajon Rondo

5-10 -- Gilbert Arenas, Steve Nash, Andre Miller, Jason Kidd, Jameer Nelson

10-15 -- Baron Davis, Derrick Rose, Devin Harris, Jose Calderon, and TJ Ford

Devin Harris is better than everyone behind Arenas on your list, and he's better than Arenas at the moment because Arenas hasn't been healthy in a while.

Devin Harris's 2008-2009 stats:
21.3 pts 6.9 assists 1.7 spg
PER: 21.65

That's way above average.  Devin Harris might have been deserving of your assessment a year or two ago, but he improved a LOT in the last year.  He came very close to getting MIP this year, and was an All-Star unlike the majority of the point guards you have in your top 15, many of whom you put ahead of Harris.

Devin Harris might not play on a great team, but that doesn't mean you can ignore his ability.  He may or may not be in the top 5 point guards in the league, but he's definitely top 6-8.

You're also not taking into the account the fact that Harris probably hasn't even reached the peak of his potential yet because he's still relatively young.

Again, Harris is a known quantity: he's going to be a strong starting point guard for years to come.  Ricky Rubio might be a star - someday - or he might never be.

Not only are you wrong about Harris, you're wrong about Rose, too. ;)

In terms of point guards there's the old guard and the new guard. The new guard of top point guards includes CP3, D. Williams, Rondo, Devin Harris, and Derrick Rose. CP# is in his own class. Then comes the other 4.

My next group of five would be -- Mike Conley, Mo Williams, Rodney Stuckey, Monta Ellis and Russell Westbrook.

With Raymond Felton just missing out.

Where do you have Rose, Roy?

I have Rose pretty much tied with Rondo, somewhere in the second tier (6-10 range) right now.  I think Rose will end up being the third best PG in the league, though, behind only Paul and Williams.

I presume you agree with the other four of my top five point guards. Who would be your fifth guy? Ahead of Rondo? Steve Nash?

I think Rose will shoot up that list too, excellent prospect. However, in terms of current ability, I don't think he's a top 10 point guard yet.

Right now, yes, I'd rank Nash ahead of Rondo, Rose, and Harris.  I know that isn't a popular viewpoint, but I think his amazing offensive efficiency makes up for his less than stellar defense.
