Yeah - but If I was any NBA player- with a fat contract - I'd have a **** gym inside my big ass house, with a basketball in it and I'd shoot around, even when I'm resting.

Also - he needs to get there earlier before the games. There is so much that goes on before a game, between the players, trainers, nutrition, coaches, etc - I can't imagine that the C's don't want him there earlier - especially play off games. Obviously, Rondo is getting there as late as they allow him. So I guess Doc is ok with it.

I'd hate to see Rondo miss a game because he's stuck on 93 sitting in traffic.

He said that he sits in his car for 30 minutes or so before he goes into the locker room. Is sitting there and focusing on the upcoming game so much worse than hanging around in the locker room that's bursting with activity?

I don't think Rondo's current contract is enough to buy a house that can hold a basketball court inside, especially in the Boston area :P

TP MrTripleD. Good to see the notes on this interview.

I think Rondo's responses are good, and it is good that he is aware of the public/media perception of his flaws - particularly regarding ego/attitude.

He's an ambitious kid and i hope he keeps getting better.

He can have an outdoor hoop!

And wasn't he late to a playoff game? Did he fall asleep in his car?

"I like to show up late so I don't waste time"

Anyone else find this disturbing? :-\

No. It's just for games, and people have different ways to get ready for them and have their heads in the right frame of mind. It's not like he's coming late constantly for practices, etc.

I believe it was a playoff game.  Shame, shame. :-\

According to his interview he wasn't late. The people who claimed that he was late didn't know what time he was supposed to be there.

Late can be relative... later than anyone else but still on time. He did play awful that game.

Im sure he's shot a couple times, in addition to working out.

But when your coaching staff tells you not to do anything basketball ready until they tell you to, then you don't.

He's an employee, if his bosses told him and the other players not to do anything basketball related until they sat down and developed there summer programs with them, then thats what his employer told him.

Personally, i see nothing wrong with giving these guys a month away from basketball if they are just now sitting down with coaches to get thier goals and work out routines as rondo said he is doing with tibs for now and im sure doc when doc gets back from vacation.

So you can be late for a game that you're on time for? Gotta love that.

agree with it or not, he has very clear reason for not wanting to get there many hours before the game.

he feels like it takes away from his focus and intensity to be kickin around the facility for that much time before a game.

some people feel it helps them. Rondo feels it hurts him.

A lot different than just strolling in late to a game, which is basically how it's being framed by some.

Talent wins. Rather have Rondo who shows up an hour before game time than any of our previous point guards (Bassy, Payton, Dickau, Atkins, Banks) even if they showed up 5 hours before the game.

Sort of how I preferred Manny on the Sox hitting bombs and occasionally not hustling, over Varitek striking out, but hustling back to the dugout to put on his gear,

Can't blame Rondo for looking to get as much money as possible. He showed last year that he's one of the best young PGs in the NBA. I'd let him play out this year he see if he can improve from last. This may drive his price up but Ainge get a better feel if he thinks Rondo is worth the top dollar. Celts can't afford to lose him unless they get back an all-star PG.

It was a concerning report, but as more details keep coming out my worries have been squelched.
