"An NBA source said today that Minnesota forward-center Al Jefferson is not being traded to the Suns with the sixth overall pick for Suns All-Star forward Amare Stoudemire. An NBA executive told The Globe on Wednesday that both teams were discussing the trade. But another source said today that the Suns made the trade offer to the Wolves recently and were turned down. The source added that the Wolves new general manager David Kahn has even called Jefferson, an ex-Celtic, to tell him the trade would not happen. As for Stoudemire, the cost-cutting Suns definitely seem interesting in moving him and his hefty salary."

seems like Minn has its head on straight, that would have been an awful trade for them IMO.

Slightly different if they required amare to extend his deal, then it's better for the wolves, but i still like Al for that team more.

what they need is a star caliber wing player.

That's good news. I thought it was a terrible idea for Minn, and I would have felt bad for big AL, I'd like to see him as a franchise player, not as a big bouncing around the league, because he has that potential.

Not to mention I'd still like to acquire Amare to play alongside Perk and KG. Those three could eat them some glass!!!!!

I'm pretty sure Kerr is doing what he can to shop Amare and Shaq. This rumor might have been leaked to help set the market price for Amare.

I also though the Wolves were giving up too much. If they'd gotten Phoenix's #14 pick, I might have felt a little bit better about it.

I'm still betting on Amare being sent to Washington on draft night, especially if Harden still happens to be on the board at #5.

I'm disappointed, for a moment I was really believing that they were going to make the deal, and Phoenix would have improved a lot. It's interesting to see that the Suns are trying hard to move Amare, I hope they will trade him if they get the right pieces in exchange, but if they don't get something good (or great) in the trade they should stay put. The problem is that Amare doesn't seem attractive anymore in the league since no team is trying to acquire him...

I think Minny leaked this trade to gauge reaction. When it came back negative they backed off. Teams do this often when dealing star players. I was shocked that Memphis didn't do it with Gasol, b/c they would have gotten a bunch of better offers after the reaction to the trade rumor.

Is it safe to say that the Suns are making a bunch of one sided offers and then leaking them into the media?

I think this is the exact reason why this trade was brought public. Kerr must be getting tons of trade offers for Amare and hating all of them. So to send a league wide message as to what it is going to take to get a 25 year old former first team All-NBA player, Kerr went out and tried to make a deal that he knew would probably never happen.

At least GMs are now going to think twice before calling Kerr up and seeing if they can get Amare for package deals that look like Scal, Tony, BBD S&T, Giddens and Walker for Amare. My guess is he has gotten call after call trying to pry Amare loose for nothing more than pure garbage.

On the other hand, we are talking about the T-Wolves and maybe they actually thought about this deal before laughing at Kerr.
