I can't wait to see it.  Both teams will be very motivated to get there. I think Orlando is going to drop a bit, as it looks like they are losing Turkolu to FA.  For some reason, I am not worried about Cleveland. I think trading for Shaq would be disastrous move on their part. I just feel that, barring injuries, our motivation to get back  to the finals will be very strong. The Lakers have few obstacles in their way to get back.  And the opportunity to face us would be extra incentive.  Ainge needs to focus on building a bench that can compete with that of the Lakers.

I agree with you, but as we saw this season a LOT depends on who stays healthy - that applies to the Celtics and a lot of other teams in the league.  What if Gasol is injured somehow towards the end of the season?  Lakers don't make the Finals.  What if the Spurs have a good off-season, maintaining their Big 3 while getting other younger pieces around them, and they stay healthy throughout the season?  They could be in the Finals.  You could think up similar scenarios for other teams that would be contenders if they had a good off-season, stayed healthy, and kept focused - the Rockets for example.  Our team in particular has to have a good off-season to get the right supporting cast for our great starting 5 in order to contend.

I don't think it's at all easy to say that it'll be Lakers vs Celtics next year, though I'd LOVE to see us crush the hell out of them.

Yup.  Last year's meeting was serendipitous.  I thought that a matchup this year would have been more telling, but I'm willing to wait until next year.
Yup

I think the C's are still the better team.  I just hope Ainge doesn't decide to package half of what is the best team in the NBA for draft picks that won't be ready for 3 years.

I'd rather not see the Lakers in the finals next year. Or any year. Ever again.

up to very recently i wanted c's lakers again. now i'm not sure. a big part of me wants the lakers to just completely suck. i like the idea of the c's being the greatest franchise in nba history. one more by the lakers and i think the national view will be that l.a. is now the greatest. media people will keep repeating it until people just accept it ebvven if it was'nt true.
i'm gonna throw somethin out there that may tick some off..i think it's very possible that that irish shamrock symbol and the celtics name is'nt something some non white members of the media would prefer as representing the greatest basketball franchise. i think many would prefer it be the lakers.

Hrm I don't think Portland reaches the Finals for another couple years.  Maybe they'll get to the WCF though.  The Spurs could very well get to the Finals if they stay healthy and do something good this off season to shore up their bench etc.

In the East I think we can totally get to the Finals if we have a good off season and stay healthy too.  The Magic will probably be pretty much the same as this year (which means we can beat them with KG) and the Cavs might be a bit different, but I still think we can take them.

You gotta remember, the bulk of the Celtics titles were early in the league when it was watered down and easy to get to the Finals.

Is this a joke?  Watering down occurs as the league expands.  Fewer teams mean better teams by definition.

Dave Mathews > your posts and he's horrible.

Lakers lucked out with regard to KGs knee.  Again Dave Mathews blows, FYI.
