So since we now know that it would be Perk that we would be giving up for a top 5 , who do you think Danny would draft?

The obvious choice would be Thabeet as we would now have a hole at Center. However I feel Danny might see either Harden or Evans as a future All-Star. I have read a few articles lately about the draft and they all seem to be comparing Harden's game to Paul Pierce.

If that was the case then Danny would have to feel confident that he could bring in a championship calibe Center in via free agency. Rasheed? Zaza? Gortat?

I am going to say he is trying to trade up for Harden .

PG: Rondo    / Marbury
SG: Ray      / Harden
SF: PP       / Grant Hill
PF: KG       / BBD
 C: Rasheed  / Vet Min

I hope, if it's anyone in this draft, it's Harden. Rubio is alright, but if we aren't trading Rondo then no. If we do trade Rajon, then I guess so. But I think Harden honestly has the chance to be the best player in this draft, yes, ahead of Griffin. You never know how these things work out, but I have a feeling about a certain Mr. James Harden.

Look at my sig.  We shouldn't trade Perkins.

I dont like the idea of trading Perk either but I think Danny has something in mind like this. We trade Perk for the number 2 pick in the draft then draft Harden the replacement for Ray Ray, Sign sheed for 1 year MLE and then go after Amare or Bosh in the off-season of 2010 since hearing from wyc we can afford to get a max player then. BBBBUUUTTT i really wouldn't like trading Perk he is a face of this team weather you think i am crazy or not he really is the toughness that this team is! But i wouldn't be so upset if Ainge is doing what i would think he is doing.

I assume you can, this doesn't say you can't.

MID-LEVEL SALARY EXCEPTION -- This exception allows a team to sign any free agent to a contract equal to the average salary, even if they are over the cap. This exception may be split and given to multiple players. It may be used for contracts of up to five years in length, and raises are limited to 8% of the salary in the first year of the contract. Signing a player to a multi-year contract does not affect a team's ability to use this exception every year. For example, a team can sign a player to a five-year contract using this exception and still use the exception the following year to sign another player.

But I don't know if Roy is up right now, but he would certainly be the guy to ask.

Yes you can. The MLE allows you to sign a player, or combination of players up to the average salary of the league for the first year of the contract. After you that you can give each player more or less years as you choose.

Tony and Eddie got about half the MLE each on two year deals. Posey got the full MLE for four years with raises each year.

Well if it was possible to do that then the trade of Perk would make a lot more sense because you could then sign Rasheed Wallace to a 1 year deal for the MLE and then get that cap space free next year along with PP opting out and signing a cheaper per year 4 year contract  you would then be able to go after a Max player in 2010 free agency .

EDIT

Actually no they wouldnt be able to get a max player because they would still have to sign rondo

Danny is going after evans there is no doubt about it.

look at this clip

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDAT8yMr2b4

This kid has elite level handles (something like derrick rose, dwade). Not overly athletic though

Supposedly the next great one out of high school , won mcdonalds mvp and other awards etc.

He reminds me of al jefferson, the guard version with his craftiness and capabilities to finish down low.

Danny's plan i predict

Trade perkins, bill walker and next years 1st round pick for this years 2nd round pick (Evans) and a throw in for salary matching.

Doubt he trades ray allen and will try to sign some servicle pf/centres with some good cash to offer (verejao?)to make a run at the championship

danny wants to win but i feel that he really wants to make sure we keep having chances to win in the future. He probably doesn't feel comfortable that perk and rondo could carry the expections. (I don't)

He really must feel evans could be like the next paul pierce for us, someone you can rely on to score for you and take the tough shots and most importantly get them in

Yeah, a backcourt of two players who don't have great jumpshots, just what we need for the future. (Rondo + Evans)

Also, Evans has consistently been referred to as "not overly athletic."  How many super-stars can you think of that are "not very athletic"?  Yeah, not many.

I sure hope he's not gunning for Evans.

I think people need to drop the signing a player to the max in 2010 idea. Wade isn't walking through that door. LeBron is not walking through that door, and Chris Bosh is not walking through the door.

The only chance we have at getting one of those players is if Miami, Cleveland, or Toronto knows they aren't coming back and we trade Ray at the deadline for one of them. Otherwise, it may work on NBA Live, but in real life the chances of LeBron coming her via free agency are next to nothing.

The Celtics are not trading Rondo or Perk for any player in the draft this year... If we did get a pick, it would be to trade it with Ray Allen for a big name player on a team looking to shed salary.

Thats a good point can anyone say Amare Stoudamire ???

Ray , # 2-5 and BBD for Amare and Barbosa?

PG: Rondo / Marbury
SG: Barbosa / Walker
SF: PP      / Grant Hill ( Vet Min)
PF: KG      / Mdcyess(LLE)

I would think it has to be either Rubio or Evans.
