This is a good idea for a thread.

Well, I got finished traveling for a week around southern France with my girlfriend (who is from there.)  Now I'm in Barcelona where I've been transferred to for the summer by my job.  First week of September I'll head down to the Canary Islands and then a few days in Morocco.

My goal is to enjoy and survive all of that, better my spanish, eat amazing food, and try to take time to read and write (which I don't do nearly enough of when I'm in Boston.)  If all goes well I'll be back in Boston the second week of September ready for preseason to start soon after.

Wow, you got me beat... let me guess your age... 22?

You lucky son of a gun. I was in Barcelona in April for four days - beautiful place isn't it? Truly beautiful. You'll have a great time there hopefully. Also, the seafood is incredible.

Make money, write articles, quit smoking, enjoy Romania, Monaco, New York and Boston and get in shape to compete in a half-marathon this November then prepare for a full marathon (London) next year.

you might want to quit smoking before coming to the states. The government here robs the smokers blind! From what I read on the news (and been told by my butt smoking friends) smokes are going up again! Already around $8 a pack!

Yeah I've heard. Having said that $8 is still cheaper than here. Ugh.

Close, 25.  Yeah, I consider myself quite lucky to be in this situation.  Life occasionally offers some privileges and I guess we have to grab ahold of them when we can.  My job in Boston at an international school houses me for free, and now has blessed me with an opportunity to come here and have free housing.  I certainly don't have much flexibility financially so this is the only way I could travel.  The job over here has its big drawbacks as well, believe me.  But it's obviously an invaluable experience that I will always remember and blah blah blah.

It gives me fond memories of a few years ago when I was living and working in Italy.  I was so starved for celtics news that I would scour the internet all day.  I discovered Celticsblog and my life has never been the same since.

Yeah CM, it is quite beautiful.  I've been to a lot of European cities and I've never been in one quite like it.  I guess I arrived a few weeks too late though.  I'm told it was about as wild a place as exists in the world after Barcelona won the cup.

Thanks for the seafood recommendation, somehow, even though it's on the sea, I didn't think about that before.  The food has been excellent so far, although having just come from France it has some high standards to live up to.

And the Gaudi houses. I'd also recommend going up Montjuic and Mount Tibidabo, the views from the top of the mountains are breathtaking. I've got to get myself back there, wonderful city. Have fun and as Jsaad said, take pictures and post them here.

So true. The oportunity to leave in a foreign country (realy live there and visit as a tourist) it`s something that shouldn`t be bypassed.

This is true, I have never been to Greece at all for that matter.  I've heard it's fantastic.

I did one of those ultra touristic bus tours of the city today.  Most of the time I hate fitting into that stereotype of the American with his map and bottle of water sitting on top of a bus tour, but in reality, on a really beautiful day, it's hard to feel guilty about riding around the city on an open top bus and learning about all the basics of the history of a given place.

I will post some pictures when I've got them.
