Now I know there's a rule about trading away future draft picks in consecutive years but what happens if immediately after this draft ends and Boston wants to put together a trade for where we package a player of ours and draft picks for another team's player.

Could we trade away the 2010 and 2012 first round picks because the rule only prohibits trading picks in consecutive future years and even though we didn't have a pick i 2009 because we traded it away, with the 2009 draft over, that doesn't count because it only effects future picks?

I'm wondering because perhaps if Danny was thinking of trading away a player like a starter for some superstar in a salary dump by the other team, I wonder if having two future first round picks, even if they are probably low, would make things more enticing?

As soon as we're past the draft, the answer is yes, we'd be able to trade our 2010 pick.

The question is why?  I'm reluctant for Danny to trade any first rounders as trade filler since that's the one skill he's consistently good at-->drafting.  Plus, with a brief title window with the current roster, he's going to need future picks to restock the team when the big 3 move on.
