If he wants to opt out for more money we are going to have to find a cheap sharp shooter off the bench.

Anthony Morrow anyone?  ;D

Wow... I hope Eddie doesn't opt out of his contract and wisely decides to stay with us for one more year. Otherwise I would be really disappointed and I'm not sure Danny would sign him back if he asks for more money. :-\

Well, House won't get any more money than he is already making. We don't have to worry about this. But if for some improbable reason a team offers him more money, we can say goodbye to Eddie. I'll miss the guy. He plays with a lot of passion, and he's a real fan favorite, but he's not worth any more than what he's getting.

first option by far is having Eddie back. he is a known quantity, he plays hard, instant impact. extremely likable. perfect bench player, really.

that said, the other option is re-upping Pruitt whom we have been grooming for the role....certainly not a known quantity, but we've seen hints that he could fill the role.

The title of the thread is a little misleading.  The agent is simply posturing before the end of the month.  There's nothing in that article that should come as a surprise.  The value of Eddie involves which position he'll play.  His strength is playing the two.  If the lineup shuffle doesn't allow him to play to his strength, then he's a liability.  If we have the player personnel to keep him playing the two, then he'll continue to rock from that position.

I'm not sure House leaving would be such a problem.

I don't think he'd be too hard to replace.

I want more money to.

Even if House opts out, the Celtics will probably be able offer the same amount any other team offers with out using the MLE or LLE.

Not a good year to be a FA as a small bench role player.

He'd be an idiot to opt out, IMO.

You all underestimate the value of Eddie to this team. Certain teams he doesn't match up well against, but the guy saved our behinds in so many games over the past couple years it isn't funny. Add all of that to the fact that the guy is the perfect team player and gives it everything he has every second of every game, and you have a guy who indeed is worth more than we are paying him. I hope that he finishes his career here because the guy is a true Celtic.

Bump, although spot shooters who can't play defense are a dime a dozen in the NBA, I hope we'd sign another person to fill this role if Eddie walks (which simply wont happen).  I haven't seen anything from Pruitt (who i am a fan of, btw) that suggests he's got the pluck to fill Eddies shoes.

I'd miss his little kid's towel waving more than the player to be honest, I think he's replaceable if he wants more dough than he's getting.  8)

The point is that no team is going to pay him more money anyways.  They didn't last season.  Now that teams are going to be tighter with money, they will not this year.

So, to give him any more money next season is overpaying him.

And yes, he can be replaced.  Just find another outside shooter.

I am surprised. He would get almost 3 million on a championship caliber team next year. Being a superb shooter but really adding little else, how much money does he expect? I think his contract is pretty good. Maybe the Clippers can pay him the MLE, but is that really all that matters?
