With the Sox pen completely gassed, Tim Wakefield has volunteered for long relief tonight:

from Boston.com

the Red Sox have a rough combination brewing: Their bullpen is fatigues from a 13-inning game, and Daisuke Matsuzaka is starting tonight. The solution, as it always seems to be this season for the Red Sox pitching staff, is Tim Wakefield. Today would be his day to throw a side session, but he skipped it and volunteered to pitch as a long reliever if Matsuzaka falters early. Regardless, Wakefield will make his scheduled start Tuesday. Brad Penny also volunteered if necessary, Francona said.

Wakefield is the penultimate teammate, every coach in little league should be highlighting him regarding how one acts within the context of a team.  He is indeed the Red Sox version of Troy Brown, and we are very lucky to have him.
sometimes you have to bite your lip, exhale and move on.  So, I have.

If Wake is the next to last teammate, who is the last? ;)

tp to OP...ive said this for years

both guys do whatever their teams asked...rarely complained...will retire legends in boston within minimal recognition outside of new england....and the value/worth they had for the sox/pats would never have been matched had they moved on to other teams, nor is it measurable by any statistcal means
Looking for a Sig designer....obviously i will be greatful with tps.

Looking for a Wire - Rondo theme....PM with ideas and I'll tp
