It's not ideal, but Paul could slide over to SG (he guards plenty of SGs, including the best one in the NBA), with Chandler starting.  Or, sign a SG in free agency (Anthony Parker?) and have Chandler come off the bench.

I prefer Paul at SF with Chandler filling a 6th man role.  Anthony Parker could be a nice SG pickup.

The Knicks already have plenty to sign Lebron.  This trade may help them sign a sidekick, but they've got around $30 - $35 million to work with presently.  If Lebron wants to go to NY, it will happen.

Knicks have about $23.5M on the books for 2010 (including Curry, Jeffries, Gallinari and Chandler).  Say $8M for Lee and the Knicks have $31.5M.  That still leaves enough to sign LeBron to the max, I believe.

Lee averaged 16 and 12 on 55% shooting.  He had *65* double-doubles this year, and had a 37/21 game.

Knicks would do that trade. They get rid of both the contracts they're desperate to move and they avoid having to make a long term financial investment in Lee, who they are lukewarm to. Then they can also trade Ray for other inferior expiring contracts at the deadline and pick up a pick or 2.

For Boston, while tempting to add Lee, Duhon, and Chandler, I have to agree with the earlier poster about if this would hinder signing Rondo (and Perk) in the future. Big dollars for Lee, Curry, Jeffries, and eventually Chandler. Add in Pierce and KG's salaries which are huge and you're WAY over the luxury tax if you resign Perk and Rondo.

True.  Luxury tax implications would be the problem with this trade, from my perspective.  However, it's not the cap-killer that it could be.  We could do this trade (with Lee around $8 million) and extend Rondo, and still be at about our current payroll.  It still means paying the luxury tax, but it wouldn't kill the payroll any more than our current team does.

Not ideal but it's interesting. Celtics bench gets immediate help. First, David Lee is perfect as a hustling, running, rebounding big man back up. I would love the energy he would bring, tracking down Eddie's long rebounds and running the floor with Rondo when he gets the chance.

Chandler is the piece I really like. Big, strong, athletic 3 who can score, has improved each year in the league, and I think someone who would benefit greatly from Pierce. Also could play some small 4 (against the Magic for example).

Jeffries is 6-10, could help guard some of the Lewis/Turk/Odom types, especially with injuries or foul trouble.

Duhon I think is a waste. Would love this deal without him or with moving him for a different point. Just don't like his game at all.

Everyone is down on Curry and rightfully so. But he was with the Baby Bulls (no leadership) then got a ton of money in NY under the leadership of Isiah and Marbury...I would be willing to give him a last shot by working with Clifford Ray (who to my knowledge has succeeded with every big man willing to put in the effort to work hard) and under the tutelage of KG and Perk. If he can't thrive in that situation or doesn't want to work hard, so be it. But as part of this deal I don't mind the risk because of our vets.

I do like the idea of adding two strong young pieces like Chandler and Lee to our young core of Rondo and Perk. This would enable us to remain competitive once Pierce and KG enter their "career twilights."  TP for the idea and for reaching Atari 2600 Roy!

I don't really get this trade.  Jeffries is an overpaid under achiever.  Duhon is a backup.  Curry is a waste of space.  And Lee would be overpaid as a bench player.  He's going to want at least $9mil a year.  And it would leave a big hole at the starting 2 guard spot.

I would only do it if Ray was immediately bought out and came back here on the cheap.  Also Jeffries and Curry would have to expire this year and we would keep Lee, Duhon and Chandler as backups.  I still don't love the trade though.  I think there are better options out there.  Don't blow this thing up yet unless you can get a better player than Ray.  They can still win it all in 2010 with a veteran role player or two.

Duhon is an expiring contract.  He would be overpaid as a backup PG, but he seems more than qualified for the role.  He could be moved later in the season if necessary.
