According to a report from Yahoo-Eurosport, the Knicks will acquire Sergio Rodriguez in a draft night trade.

Sources from the Knicks say the two sides have had a deal agreed upon for almost three weeks.

Mike D'Antoni is reportedly driving the interest in the Portland point guard.

Interesting. Sergio was kind of disappointing last season. Usually played out of control. I'm not sure what they'd be giving up though. Maybe Duhon for Sergio?

I'm assuming that they still go for a PG at 8 since Sergio is a backup.

Knicks have several trade exceptions that would allow them to take Sergio without sending Portland back any salary, so it may just be Sergio for a pick.

I'm thinking a pair of second round picks is the trade package for Sergio.

This trade should open up time for both Bayless and Rudy, I'm assuming.  I doubt the Blazers are asking for a lot in return.

I'm thinking a pair of second round picks is the trade package for Sergio.

It would have to be future 2nd rounders, since the Knicks only have a 1st in this upcoming draft.

Portland is also stacked again this year, with four 2nd rounders (#33, #38, #55, #56) after their first rounder.

BTW, playing with the ESPN trade machine, I noticed that Portland has a sizeable trade exception.

The following three-way trade works, per the TM:

Portland receives Tony Allen from Boston (using TE)
Knicks receive Sergio Rodriguez from Portland and Brian Scalabrine from Boston
Boston receives Chris Duhon from Knicks

Not sure whether that's something that everyone would agree on, but thought I'd throw it out there.

Sene has played 246 minutes in three seasons. Sims has played 24 minutes in two years. Why would we want them taking up roster spots?

Yeah, I changed that up when I noticed we might make things work for an area of need (Duhon).

They have also been rumored to be trying to trade up to get S. Curry and pair him in the backcourt with Brandon Roy.  Since Roy handles a lot of ball handling duties too that would be a great pairing.

Yeah, sounds like just what the Blazers need...to get younger.

Well if you're trading excess youth to upgrade that's not a bad thing. And younger isn't always a bad thing. The C's won a title with a 2yr point guard and BBD was pretty good this yr as a 2nd yr player. Imagine if Doc played rookies :P

While Duhon wouldn't be a bad PG I would think we could do a little better with trading TA and Scal.

Ive yet to see a realistic trade that beats it.

Really?

You're expectations are a lot higher than mine. I think Duhon is a great get for that trade package.
