My perfect last guy on the bench is scal.  A vet who can play multiple spots, help the team in all the little ways and teach the young guys.  No thanks antoine.  I hated the wiggle after a 3 and want to distant any memory of pitino being here.
He has no spot on this team.

Not interested in Tione either, but he wasn't drafted by Pitino. ML drafted Tione. Pitino drafted Pierce, so as long as Pierce is here, the memory of Pitino is ALIVE  :P

AW could not play the three in his prime, he will not be able to play it for us now. He was a marginal PF defensively at best, so why would we want him at that position?

AW is not currently better than Mikki Moore, Scal, BBD or Powe. He is not even on a level with Tim Thomas, let alone Bill Walker. Why would we want him? What does he suddenly bring to the table that he was incapable of bringing in Memphis, Dallas or Miami?

Of course he wants to play here, half the over the hill veterans on the fringe of the league want to play here for the 'last shot at a ring' we can offer. We owe him nothing, he was selfish as a Celtic player and as an opponent as evidenced by his comments and performance.

We can do a lot better.

Again..not defending AW...The reason he was cut...was one youth movement and two...It saved them $ and walker requeted it!  Not because he could play!  I'll be he was better than 5 guys on that squad..It was the best move for AW and the team!

Much more likely to have this Employee #8 back

I think I just threw up in my mouth.   It is a disgrace for me to see that number being worn by "THAT GUY" of all people.   I mean...When Al Jefferson wore it, I had no issue with it.

If there was any doubt that Ainge wanted to stick it to Antoine, after "giving" Marbury the #8, there isn't any now.

Thank god he didn't win a title wearing that number....The ultimate slap in the face, IMO.

he's quite a leader who may or may not have bothered to get into shape. i'm gonna guess he'll be OUT of shape. won't be the first time.

But it was just stated that he's in the Best Shape in Years?   What's your definition of "In-shape" then?  ???

"boston won't win sh%t." was'nt that toine's qoute before the oden draft? he would'nt come here. ainge is a snake, i thought??

"Ainge is a snake".....that was Before Ainge did him a HUGE FAVOR by S&T-ing him to the Heat where He won a Ring!!!

I doubt Toine has any hard feelings for Danny after that.  If anything, he owes Danny for not sending him to Minnesota/Memphis outright.   8)

Just because another Antoine thread is exactly what we need on this blog  ;). Could he be Pierce's perfect backup? Maybe he could be a poor man's Lamar Odom off our bench? The SF/PF we were looking for, minus the defense?

Walker couldn't even fill this role in Memphis, one of the worst teams in the league.  What makes us think he can fill this role on a championship contender?

What could Walker do when the entire focus of that Franchise was to REBUILD?   He was told before the Season started that he wasn't playing 'cause of the YOUTH MOVEMENT and he agreed to not make a big stink about it.

So your argument that he couldn't even fill the role in Memphis is way offbase and unfounded.

also, Bobdelt, give me a break....read the above paragraph, okay?

Walker was Pretty good and on his way to being a 20/10 player before Pitino arrived with his full-court-press garbage;  He confused Walker into molding himself into Scottie Pippen one day...and then Karl Malone the next.  He didn't care for anyone other than himself and those stupid cooking shows(or whatever that was) regarding his sauce.

So I am flipping through the channels last night and I land on Spike TV.  Who do I see playing "Around the World" on the Pros vs. Joes basketball court but Employee #8 himself.

If you go on that show doesn't that mean you are officially DONE?!
"Coach you were 24 and 58 last year, why the playoff talk?"
"Well we made a couple of key trades . . . and we got The Funk."

Nope.  It just means that Toine got the opportunity(and CASH!) to be on TV and he took it.   Wouldn't you?

And anyway...I knew that at only 32(or is it now 33?) that he still has at least 2-3 good years left to play for the minimum in the NBA so that's why he'll give it another go one last time.  All he will be looking for now, however, is simply a team that will give him regular PT whether it's in the Starting Lineup or off the bench.

Toine, at this point of his career, just wants to play NBA Basketball.  Nothing else.

Research things?

I think you need to research things - you're going off on a WILD RUMOR that he's in shape. He wasn't in shape when he played for us. Why would be in shape now?

There is no evidence that he's in shape, except an "nba source" aka his agent. And after he was cut - not one team picked him up.

If he was serious about playing - he would have been picked up. Anyone thinking Antoine can play is in fantasy land. He's was a bench player 3/4 years ago. Scal can bring more to this team now than Antoine.

And we need to stop thinking about getting these old washed up players for one-two year deals. I dont want to look like the 04 Lakers. The old Rockets team that couldn't win w/ Barkley. Let's develop a real bench, with players who'll stick around for a few years - so we're not in the same situation next summer.

I understand why he would go one for the money and chance to be on TV and all.  I guess I just don't see Pros vs Joes as a way to showcase your skills for a possible return of sorts to the NBA.

Especially when he was throwing up airballs in a game of around the world.

Not if i had any hopes of making it back in the league, no.

Unless he's completly mis-manged the ten's of millions he made in the NBA (possable) and is broke I really don't think Pro's vs Joe's is something you want to be involved with while looking for a contract with an NBA team.

I defintly wouldn't have shown up for the taping as out of shape as he was and gotten schooled by several "joe's" and toss up airballs in a game of around the world.

He looked like a joke, not exactly a move i'd make if i wanted NBA GM's to take me serously.
