This is some good stuff if you have a few minutes.  All shot just off Chatham.  I wasn't involved with but the guy driving the boat fixes my computer!

Excellent video. 1000 pound tuna... that was fun to watch.

Matt, here's the whole video of the 1000 pound tuna catch.  Pretty cool stuff.

Today's Best for me...

2 pound Largemouth Bass
Caught again at Lackey Dam in Northbridge, MA.
This time caught on a quarter of a trout worm... I don't see how that fish bit on to the little piece of worm I was using.
The fish swallowed the hook which explains why my buddy is using pliers to get the hook out. I always fish catch and release. I released the fish, it sat around for maybe 20 seconds but in the end it survived, jumping quite high out of the water and them swimming away in a hurry. I caught it at about 8:30 tonight.

Bonus Fish!

My buddy caught a 2 pound Carp in the Blackstone River in Uxbridge, MA. The Carp was caught at the Riverbend Farm location. It was caught on a bread ball at about 7:00 tonight.
Anybody who likes Carp or has never tried Carp fishing needs to head down to the Blackstone River where they have been known to be caught at around 25 pounds. I myself caught a 15 pounder last year. (No picture sorry, but I never brought a camera with me until after I caught that fish. In fact that fish is the reason why I now bring a camera.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I grew up on the St Lawrence river, freshwater fishing is a way of life out here, to the point where I stopped scuba diving on old shipwrecks (there are a lot of them on teh St Lawrence, remarkably great conditions underwater for preservation), and started diving on dropoffs and ledges to see where the bass were schooling.

Mostly smallmouth, some largemouths, lots of northern pike, some muskies (best freshwater sport fish ever), and even some stergeon. Plus all the perch your lil tummy can handle.

Nothing better than waking up early, bringing in 8-12 perch, cleaning them, sittin waterfront with your buddies during the day, then fish fry at night. Close to teh perfect day.

Here's my fish from this morning that I kept. They around 30lbs and 20lbs.
We caught around 10 stripers   8 where keepers. We didn't get any big toads today.
We left the dock around 5:45am and where on bait(shad) by 6:00am. They shad where between 1 and 2lbs that we used for bait. To troll them I rig a one ounce drail weight to my main line (20lb mono) From the weight I run 40lb fluorocarbon to a #6 treble hook, I hook the shad through the nostril and troll them. The drail weight prevents them from spinning or rising to the top.
if you have the shad or bunker you have striper ;D.

I struck out this weekend, 5 hours at snake pond in sandwich for nothing.

Most fustrating moment was trolling into shore to get a lure I had gotten stuck on a log underwater and watching a bass shoot away from underneath it.

Just a slow day all around, don't know what they were after. My friend in our other boat caught a decent largemouth out of cover, but one fish between 4 people on 2 boats does not a happy crownsy make...

Ah well, there's always next week! (and hopefully this time ill get something worth a picture)

wonder if it was just the weather, On the cape this was the first real warm weekend, where both days hit 70. They already spawned down here it seems, they might have just been down deep this weekend and inactive.

That what i'll tell myself to keep me going till next weekend anyway J :D

For all you  guys fishing freshwater bass you should be throwing Gary Yamamoto "Senko's" they are the best artificial soft plastic on the market!Use a #4 or #5 Gamagatsu EWG hook and fish it weedless with no weight. Cast it out and let it drop, once the line gos slack reel and bait hits the bottom and raise the tip back up and let it drop. You can also fish it like a Slugo. Awesome bait I use it 90% of the time and they produce, you feel a tap set the hook. At Wal-Mart they sell the same things and they are called "Kinami bait".
I used to fish tons of fresh water bass tournament and I would thow these alot because they produce!!!

I like the senko's, though I've had better luck with berkley's Craws and Power worms.

Does senko make a jig trailer? I can never find any at dick's.

I like to use their twin tail grubs or the creature and cut off the hula part.
