1994-95

C: Shaquille O'Neal
PF: Horace Grant
SF: Dennis Scott
SG: Nick Anderson
PG: Penny Hardaway

Bench: Brian Shaw, Donald Royal, Jeff Turner

2008-09

C: Dwight Howard
PF: Rashard Lewis
SF: Hedu Turkoglu
SG: Courtney Lee
PG: Rafer Alston

Bench: Mickael Pietrus, Anthony Johnson, Marcin Gortat, Jameer Nelson

I think this year's team has to have more talent, top to bottom.  However, the '95 team had the most dominant player, and Penny was pretty amazing back in the day.  It would be close, but I'll say this year's team wins in seven.

As an aside, I'd love to see a prime-Shaq vs. prime-Howard.  I think Shaq would school D12.

I think the '95 team wins. This year's team wouldn't be able to contain Penny.

As long as Nick Anderson doesn't miss his first 4 free throws, the 95 team wins.  Shaq gets Howard into early foul trouble.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
whatever happened to Redick anyway? He was playing like 20+ mins a night and now he is a dnp every game. I am not saying he is awesome or anything, just weird to see him starting (I know Lee came back), and then not play at all.

As for teams, the 95 team was pretty sick- Shaq and Penny says it all. These current guys are solid and they don't have to face Hakeem and his great team (although the Lakers are very good), but that 95 team was exciting from the start. This current team hasn't really been exciting to anybody until they beat the [Garnett-less] Celtics.

This Magic collapse in game one is reminiscent of that 1995 team in the Finals.

I tossed back on forth on it for a few minutes, but I think the 1995 team is better. I think the 2009 Magic are better 4-through-12, but I those 1995 Magic have the better players 1-through-3.

Shaq would destroy Dwight Howard, absolutely annihilate him.

95 has a much better starting 5.  This years team has a deeper bench, but I don't think they can hang with the 95 team.
