Ray and Rondo for. Blake, Bayless, Fernandez, Webster, Outlaw, and L. Aldridge.

Just answer this, would we be a better team?  A big step back in the backcourt. But a solid point guard that plays good D.
More Pierce at the shooting guard, along with house and sharp shooting Fernandez.

Pierce starting at S.F. with outlaw backing him up and Webster a Strong Athletic type playing good defense at the two and three.

And last if Aldridge wouldn't mind coming in as a 6th man still playing 30+ minutes, on a championship team. I think it could work.

Come on now with that extra All star Big man, and all that depth. Would you do it. P.S. Aldridge is good Real Real good.

And for Portland if they sign Bosh or Amare. They would have a Championship contender.

I think you are exaggerating Ray's stock value. After the Orlando series, it took a big hit.

Not Ray's stock. Rondo's. I think he's a top 5-6 point guard in the game. And he's young and still has a lot of upside. And he's a world Champ averaging triple doubles at 24 years old?? What??

So would anybody trade are Awesome Backcourt, For a top ten big man in the NBA. And a bunch of other assets. I would.

Excuse my ignorance, but who is the top ten big man in this trade?

Off the top of my head, Dwight Howard, Yao Ming, Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Carlos Boozer, Pau Gasol, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, Dirk Nowitzki and David West come to mind as players who would all qualify for the distinction of "better than any big man named in this trade."

I'm sure there are some embarrassing omissions on my list (Al Jefferson, anybody?), but they were the 10 names quickest to mind - and my point here is that while a certain Portland power forward may turn out to be an excellent overall player, I think you're stretching LMA's immediate value a bit.

And regardless, if I were the Celtics, I would have desire to trade a stud backcourt (including a point guard who could be here for the next decade) for a Portland core that doesn't include its best player (Roy) or its highest-ceiling player (Oden).  They're not trading either of them, and rightfully so.  But the Celtics don't need to deal simply for the sake of dealing.

On a final note, given your thread title, it seems worth weighing in that I find this deal less compelling than the more widely rumored Rondo-Ray deal.

Agreed, Steve. I have no interest in this deal at all.

And relatively little in the original Rondo-Ray deal, unless someone can lay out for me what the plan would be at the point.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Yeah...So why the h e double hockey sticks would you wanna trade the kid? These trade ideas are absurd. After the way Rondo played this post season the only players I would give him up for are named Lebron, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, or Dwight Howard....Incredible.

what about subbing Oden for LMA?

That way we let Clifford Ray get his hands on Oden who certainly has had a dicey couple years in the league.

not saying i would  do it, just for discussion anyway...

Just curious, but how do you go from this (in another thread) to starting a "trade Rondo" thread in less than an hour?

"I had never thought of trading Rondo. Because i never would.

However it's really interesting what we could get for him.

The deal would have to be off the charts for me to pull the trigger."

While it provides a lot of depth, I think it weakens the starting 5 to a point that hurts the Celtics in the playoffs when the rotation becomes tighter.
