why do you guys want Sheed?  He is a cry baby cancer of a player who gets T'd up constantly

I've always been sort of secret Sheed fan.

I just think the guy is so talented. Plus, I actually like what his personality could do to the bench. something similar to Pose. Lots of embracing. Lots of chatter.

Our bench IMO could really use a shot in the arm.

I just think we would get a lot of the best of Sheed's game on the Cs. especially after two terribly frustrating seasons in DET.

some think that he is just done. for me, his past two seasons is more about the downward trend in DET. I think he's got a great run left in him.

not sure that Wyc is talking about him, however.

does anybody have any thoughts about when we are going to start hearing rumors about FAs?

I can't remember last year when that started. Obviously a little more focused on the Finals last year.

I don't necessarily want Sheed - though I'd like McDyess, but I was answering the question, who I thought Wyc might be talking about.
Yup

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Maybe I'm not giving enough credit to what McDyess has left. Against a team like the Cavs or the Lakers, I'm sure he or Rasheed would prove very useful.  But against the Magic, I'd expect they'd be dead in the water.

As for Gortat, I don't see him as a gamble. He's an extremely solid backup center that will close down the paint. He consistently did it against LeBron, and that's plenty good enough for me. (Especially since I'm worried about Perk's shoulder.)

Again like it was mentioned earlier, a healthy Kevin Garnett can guard Rashard Lewis, it's no longer a mismatch.  That aside, your agruement is that Sheed and McDyess would solve nothing in regards to Rashrd Lewis, I dont understand how Gortat would solve that problem either.  Both McDyess and Sheed are proven players, thats what we need.  I'd much rather us sign a player where we know what we're getting instead of giving a guy a contract just based on a few break out games.

If Anderson Varejao opts out of his deal, which he said he is, Im sure Wyc and Danny would take a look at him.

I know the main focus is probably on big men b/c of the length of time Powe will be out, not to mention the question marks are BBD coming back, but what about Allen Iverson??  Again, before people jump all over me, Im guessing what Wyc and Co. might be thinking, this is not my first choice here.  They would have to know it would be a long shot, especially given AI's whining about coming off the bench, but stranger things have happened.  I know Wyc is focused on bringing 18 home, but the merchandise sales of bringing Iverson in would have to be in the back of his head as well, and you cant say Iverson wouldnt be a difference maker on the bench.

Robert Swift?

Seriously, I'm hoping it's McDyess.

I'd like Gortat even more, but after this playoffs, he's a pipedream. I also don't see Gortat as a risk at all.

I would be disappointed if Gortat was our "big" signing. For some odd reason, he's getting a lot of hype on this board, but I don't think it's deserving. He's very one dimensional and not exactly what the C's need. As I think someone else said, he has a high probability to be a bust. I'd rather go with the sure thing, a guy who is proven, hungry, and tested. Give me McDyess.

Why is Gortat one-dimensional?

I've been seeing Gortat playing for 5 years, he's tested enough.

I actually love Sheed's game. IMO he has always been a top 10 talent in the league. However, he is getting old and while I think our locker room would keep him straight, I think I actually like McD better for the C's. The guy is a pro. He is a great character guy. He would be a great addition.

I also hope we bring back Starbury. I think with a training camp and full season he would be a great addition.

We still need a backup 3. Biggest mistake was NOT bring back Posey, but that is water under the bridge. Don't know if he would be available via trade or not, but would love to have him b/c of the Orlando playoff matchups.
