I know we're all sick and tired of hearing about the KG injury issue but I thought this was very interesting. Talks about why the Celtics managed the KG injury the way they did.

Quote
“We were being Belichickian,” Celtics managing partner Wyc Grousbeck said of the infamously covert Pats coach. “We had a great example to follow with the New England Patriots [team stats], and we were following their World Championship lead.”

Yeah. Maybe we can't play that card again. I was surprised they admitted to disinformation. I wasn't aware you could do that and I won't be surprised if Stern fines them. I also wasn't aware of the Pats putting out disinformation. They usually just shut up like Fort Knox during a hurricane

but the best news is that it appears KG will be back in time for the next season and this problem should be resolved.

but what about powe? i think his injury is more serious. any news now him and when he will be recovered?

terrible timing for powe on his injury too, just on the verge of a new contract.

but if this helps the celtics keep him, that is a silver lining.

Definitely a good thing in my opinion.

All the speculation about Garnett's knee being worse off than we initially thought was a bit unnerving.

We all know with a healthy roster we will be right in the middle of things next year.

Probably more like Wyc aiming for a  positive spin. The fact is it didn't work. I feel strongly that they should have done the surgery 2 months ago and let the healing begin.

Most of these knee injuries take a full year to return. Part of the problem is surgery on an over 30 year old and then there is the time it takes for the player to fully trust the knee that casued all the pain.

I'd called this injury, right from the go-get. It was a bone spur pressing against a ligament, thus a simple arthroscopic clean out, rest, and some physical therapy. KG could have gotten it done mid-season and been back for the playoffs. Once the spurs are removed, the rest gets back to normal quickly since nothing needs to be cut, on the way to the spur. The ligaments are relatively untouched by the procedure whereas a torn ACL is a season killer.

Pretty much the conspiracy theorist (like me) are vindicated in this case. I said all along that sonething in this whole thing was not right. But really, I still font think they are being completely honest here. My guess is what they are calling slick, is really another half truth. The big question is how long would kg have out if he had surgery in feb? If he would have made it back by the playoffs, the they still messed up. I think that is what they still are not saying.

I wish that had been more upfront about this, too. The [dang]ing thing is, could KG have been fully recovered and in shape for the playoffs had they done this surgery in February? My guess is no, KG would have not been available. So we would have gotten the same result anyway.

Nothing I didn't already find to be obvious.

So I could really care less how they treated it in the media.

The Boston Herald article says his rehab is on track to take 'the expected 6-8 weeks.'

If that's not a typo or bad research, then wow did the organization really screw up by asking him to wait. He'd have been playing in early May :(

Ok, Wyc:

Why would you EVER delay someone's necessary surgery and reduce their recovery time for some MINOR psychological advantage? Like, you're giving up something very important in KG's health for some stupid little insignificant charade that's meant to intimidate grown men??? What?

Here's what we get out if it: Rashard Lewis going, "Ohh, I sure hope Kevin doesn't come back tonight.....oh! good! he's not in uniform. I was mildly nervous there for a second, buts it gone now, and just in time for tipoff! Lets go play the game".

While in exchange, the Celtics give up a month and a half of recovery time for their superstar and leave fan base tense, cautiously hopeful, and then bitterly disappointed.

So dumb.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Clearly this wasn't the reason they delayed his surgery.

Don't lump all knee surgeries together. They all heal differently.
