Not a lot of writing, just telling it shortly:

1. Ray Allen <---> Mike Dunleavy, T.J. Ford

The Celtics would get a back-up PG --> Don't have to sign the unproductive Marbury
The Pacers would get 19 million more cap-space to rebuild in 2010

2. Eddie House, Tony Allen, Brian Scalabrine <---> Sergio Rodriguez, Joel Pryzbilla

The Celtics would get a good and most of all defending back-up C + they would get Sergio (Re-Sign Marbury in this scenario, because Rodriguez isn't experienced enough to play big (10-15) minutes in the playoffs, let him develope)

The Blazers would get 11 million more cap-space at 2010 (Brandon Roy + 11-million-star would be nice to Portland)

Celtics wouldn't do the first and Portland wouldn't do the second.

  • Rondo = Good
We wouldn't get to use Dunleavy till the end of the season and who knows how good he'd be (he's having surgery that'll put him out for a while).

Not to mention the Pacers wouldn't do that.  Oh, and TJ Ford is very injury prone and isn't the best shooter, a weakness our starting point guard already has.

As for the Blazers trade...they would get what one might very charitably call some limited role players for some decent backups?  Doesn't make sense.

Agreed

Agree with PosImpost too -- Dunleavy is out til the start of the new year. He's definitely going to miss a big chunk of the season and he won't have seriously played in a year and a half by the time he returns. With his history of mixed performances? I don't fancy him having a good season next year, I think he's going to spend the season trying to return to fitness and form.
