If Marbury ended up staying, they I'd want to see House traded and the team acquiring a primary wing backup with a deadly outside shot.

So we trade away a guy with a deadly outside shot for a guy with a deadly outside shot...?!?!?!

We get better size on the court. House is often a liability because he's small for a 2 guard.

Yeps, although I don't think House is enough to get you a primary wing backup (not even close). I'd be happy to dump House for a team with cap room, a la Sam Cassell.

Btw, my preference is to keep House as the backup PG and it's not even close.

Not bad as long as he was willing to accept a similar role to what he had this past season.

However, I've heard that he's not willing to be 7th or 8th man. He wants to start or play heavy 6th man minutes.

If he became the old starbury (in terms of skill, not attitude) then I would happy with him being 6th man as well...

but I really doubt he will get there again.

So all in all I think bringing Stephon back would be a losing situation.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I actually think it will work well since he gets to come into a full training camp and a complete season. I don't think he found a comfort level this season. He also played with a make-do lineup which makes it harder to find your role.

Marbury is going to Europe to get his money.

Stephon Marbury didn't get the championship he craved, but he got the experience he wanted. And though Marbury's role off the bench was low-impact on too many playoff nights, Celtics coach Doc Rivers said after getting eliminated last night in a 101-82 Game 7 loss to Orlando that he would like to see the Coney Islander in green next season. Marbury said he would like to return to Boston, but indicated a starting job elsewhere -- even in Europe -- could pique his interest.(New York Post)

I'd like to see him back.  He came here, didn't cause ruckus.  Sure, playing-wise, he didn't really make an impact, but if he stays here, has a training camp under his belt, I think he will improve.

If he is worried about playing time, he would still get minutes backing up Rondo, but maybe he could back up Ray Allen, too???  Any thoughts?  What if the C's packaged TA, House & Scal's expiring deals for the back up 3 they need & have Marbury acting as a dual back up for Rondo & Ray Allen?  But then you can say, what if Rondo gets hurt, who will you have play the 2, Giddens?? true.

If he is worried about money, I don't think he will get an extreme large contract from anyone, if that's what he is really looking for.

Overall, I'm down to have him back.  Maybe if he shows some improvement they can increase his MPG by a couple minutes.

I think that is the decision that they have to make. If Marbury comes back he is going to want more minutes than he was getting. The only way I can see that happening is if he's used as a combo guard, play minutes at both the point and 2 guard. He would certainly need to get his shot back for that to work and it would not leave minutes for House. Now if House doesn't take his player option, i guess it's any easy choice. Assuming he does take it I guess the question is, can he be packaged with say Scal, TA, or both to get the wing or big this team needs? That's the questions as I see them.

I dunno man, every player mentions this as an option now, as a tactic to attempt to drive up his price. west did it last year, as did kobe and lebron.

Kobe and LeBron? They weren't even trying to negotiate a new contract... That was just the press being idiotic.

I like the idea of Marbury going to Europe; on the other hand, I don't know how will he react when he's outplayed by a bunch of American point-guards he never heard about. Can he handle being consistently schooled by nobodies?

it was leaked sources "close tot he players" that neither player denied one iota when asked about it, they both hedged about basketball being a business and how much the euro game has grown.

you don't think thats a ploy to put pressure on the league with the CBA up in 2 years?

It's a smart leak by the players/union to put pressure on the NBA to review the max contract rule and the possibility of setting themselves up with  higher negation leverage.

In part, it was also to get there names out there. Both Kobe and LeBron love the attention.

Remember how much Kobe milked his opt out? LeBron has already topped that and likely will. I don't see him re-upping with Cleveland after this post-season unless they pull off a miracle against the Magic.

I dont think he cares, honestly.

ive yet to see a rationale explanation of why he would turn down more money per year in CLEV where he's a god and they are a viable contender via a bird right max deal to go to a team that has cut all its money players to offer him a less money max deal and will have to start the same building process CLEV is in the middle of around him.

Let me start by saying I agree with you that LeBron will be a Cav.

However, he cares just as much about LeBron the brand as LeBron the player, and he knows that if he was to sign with the New York Knicks, among the crown jewels of the NBA, and revive pro basketball in the Big Apple and at MSG, that could be too much of a legacy opportunity to pass up on. He knows he is good enough to do it, and he knows if he went there he could basically own New York for bringing championship-caliber basketball back to the Garden.

From a basketball perspective, he should be a Cavalier. It makes sense that the team has already started to build around him, plus it's his home town team which is a huge draw. However, the bright lights of NYC are shining, and they could all be his if he cares to do so.
"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."
