Here it is:

Judge for yourself, but this idiot is very insulting towards the Magic and sounds very overconfident for a guy that has had to have Mama (aka LeCrab) carry him during the first series where they've actually had healthy competition.  This is not to mention that they are currently losing the series.

This is a dumb story IMO... You're the number one seed, Mo, you're supposed to win the series.
"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."

Exactly.  Why try to insult a team that is whipping you right now?

Plus, isn't he also insulting the Celtics when healthy, the Fakers and the Nuggets by declaring them hands down "the best team in basketball" because of what they did in the regular season?  They would be down 3-0 right now if not for LeCrab's desperation heave in game two.   ::)

Mo has officially reached the number 1 spot in my "All-time hated players list". He is arrogant, thinks he is better than he really is and now he just proves how stupid he is. His team is down 2-1, Mo is struggling since the second round (can't make a shot), and he dares say that they are going to win the series and that they are the best team in the league?  :o

Plus he is still crying about Anthony Johnson's elbow, what a whiner! His comments will just add fuel to the Magic players tonight and they'll probably crush the Cavs at home. Very smart from Mo.

meh, Whats he supposed to say?

"yea, we are royally boned, we have zero chance of coming back. I fear the magic like i fear snakes."

This kind of media generated billboard material is so generic at this point that i have trouble caring.

The magic have played much better than the cavs so far. If it continues, they will move on, if it doesn't, the cavs will. I could care less which team advances, I'm just pulling for denver  ;D

I've said it before and I'll say it again.  Guarantees mean very little.  And they mean even less when it comes from a guy that is far from the best player on the team.  Mo can say whatever he wants to say, but if LeBron James doesn't play well, the Cavs aren't winning anything.  So it really doesn't matter he says.

by this logic paul pierce is the most over confidant basketball player of all time, since he declared he was the best player in the NBA.

If you ask a player who the best player/team is, they are going to say "me/us". This is pro sports, you HAVE to believe its you/your team or your not going to make it very far.

The only difference here seems to be mo didn't preface it with the common cop out of "besides us/myself?" that athletes do.

I don't disagree with the "I'm just pulling for Denver" idea.  My point in the thread was the sense of entitlement he seems to feel due to regular season accomplishments when they are sucking it up in the ECF.

And an update on the foul that dotted Mo's eye and pride:

The flagrant was rescinded.  Hilarious.   ;D

The real question is: Was he asked or did he just say it? Because if he was asked, I agree with crownsy. What was he supposed to say? But if he just said it unprompted, then he's just being the arrogant punk that he truly is.

He was provoked by a beat writer. He basically just said he thought the Cavs were the better team and tried to stop there but the journalist egged him on.

Nothing wrong with it. If you make it to the conferences finals you should [dang] well expect to win.

This is why i can't summon any caring about media generated heat. IF he says "yea, were in trouble" then he's a loser, if he says "yea, were confidant" he's a jerk.

It's the same thing ESPN did to paul this summer, when they tried to crucify him as a moron for having the audacity to have confidence in himself when asked who the best player was instead of cow towing to lebron and kobe. The WWL has ceased to have any cred with me, I treat them as a mouth piece of hype.

I don't understand why people have problems with this kind of public displays of self-confidence.

because he's not on the celtics as far as i can tell. If he was on this team, you'd see the same "so what?" arguments that we all (correctly) made for paul this summer.
