Simple question, right now, two years removed from the Garnett trade, do you think Jefferson has bridged/surpassed the gap to the point that you'd rather have him than KG going forward?

As far as talent goes, yes, of course. He's younger and already one of the best 4's in the game. Defense not so great but I will take that trade off.

But I wouldn't do it because its not right pure and simple. And from a leadership standpoint that would change the culture on this team like Boy George. The whole identity would change like Frank Abagnale Jr. I'm out of similes.

Yes as long as we get to keep last year and as long as the trade is done after next year. I'm still convinced that KG has one more Celtic ring left in him and adding Big Al and taking away KG next year would kill that chance for a title.

Long term, of course Jefferson is the better asset and maybe some day he will be the leader KG is and become somewhere close to a good defensive player, like Wade Boggs did in baseball. But this team would have won a title this year except for KG's injury and I have to believe that they will be the favorites out of the shoot if they have a good off season and will win another.

The year after all bets are off and I'd rather have Al than KG from that point on.

KG helped us win our first
title in 22 years.
The answer is "No".

Now, in two years time...

I'm sorry but this is an awful thread. It's like: "we used you, and now that you are injured and we are eliminated let's trade you back...". For me, it's like that. Remember what we've done without KG this year, the points per game scored against us and the whole identity of the team altered by his absence before thinking about "trading back Garnett"...

wow! so many trade ray allen deals on
Now trade kg for big al.  I love al but besides his wonderful low post moves and good rebounding there is nothing close to his game and I mean NOTHING that equates him to a 33 year old KG.
PP won the mvp in the championship but look no further than kg for the title.  He (and danny) changed everything.  Too many people don't remember that we are supposed to win titles here in boston!  Al's d is fair, he's a low post guy.  Our floor gets spread with kg for driving lanes and perk to carve out space.  Al has to become the passer for into post out game for him to improve more.
I'm thinking we should cut pp and bring back gerald green..... :-\

Not until Al learns how to play defense, which he doesn't seem to care about/ be able to play. Big disapointment for me as a big al fan, If he doesn't at least try to learn how to keep his guy from going for 25+ while he gets his, he'll never be a superstar in this league.

TP. I have been very disappointed in Al's effort on the defensive end. Answer to OP's question: No.

If Jefferson didn't get injuried last year I'd take him back. Only because a ring last year. Jefferson may not be the same after his his surgury.

If this season and this past playoffs has proven anything it is how vastly important KG is to our ball club.

Al is a great talent, but having him over KG is not an upgrade to our current roster.

I think I would take Big Al back at this point.  KG has already changed the culture in Boston for the better, and I think Al's defense would be much better if he had been here for the last two years.  And Al is a physical beast on offense... I really can't wait to see him in the playoffs some year.  I think he's going to do some major damage.

But I agree with Nick that I'd prefer to make this trade after we win another title with KG next year.
