If Paul Pierce played like Lebron, we'd be in the ECF.  Are you talking about the jump ball Pierce stole from Lebron that put us in the ECF and gave us #17. Yeah you are right Pierce put us in the ECF and won us #17

Think about what happens when Dwight block's Lebron's three. It goes down as a PF in the stat book and gives him 1 less block, it also gives Lebron 3 more FT's. Now go through an entire 82 games season and think of how many times a play like that happened when someone played the Cavs.  Now think about how much lower so many player's other stats are because of that. Now think about so many other player's accomplishments and so many other great plays that so many other players made and how what they deservedly earned was unfairly taken away from them. Now think about what everybody else's stats should look like. When their stats look low in the scorebook people are like well those players aren't that good. Yes all those players are great too, but the NBA wants to diminish their accomplishments and take away from them what they rightfully earned.

So you're taking a single play from last year and relating that to how the two players played this year?

That's a valid analogy. Pierce is my favorite player in the NBA. He doesn't play anywhere near LeBron's level consistently.

41 points in Game 7.  Pierce must be great to do that in a single play. And when Pierce was 24 he played with the same level of consistenty(if that's a word)

Oh forgot.  Great block by Lebron on Courtney Lee. See I said it was a great block. Now lets add the word goaltend. I mean Lee is not better than Lebron so lets just take 2 points away from Lee, so when they look at it in the statbook Lee can now be 2 less points worse than Lebron and Lebron can be 1 block better.  Now lets substitute the word block with the word goaltend. Nah, don't want to do that why give Lee the basket he deserved(sarcasm)

Now you're comparing a single game to this year's entire season and a full playoff series against Orlando. Not only that but you are comparing Pierce's greatest game as a Celtic (considering the stage and that he was guarding LeBron)

01-02   BOS   82   82   40.3 Min .442 FG%.404 3P% .809 FT%   1.9 Stl   1.0 Blk 2.9 TO 2.9 PF 6.9 Reb  3.2 Ast   26.1 P

Paul Pierce was amazing when he was 24. LeBron has been much better.

PPG     RPG     APG     SPG     FG%
28.4    7.6    7.2    1.7    .489

What surprised me is Pierce got to the line only one less time than LeBron this season. Maybe the officials have always been corrupt, but only love 24 year old SFs  ;).

I'm sorry, but you trash Lebron every chance you get and Pierce was very mortal in the Conference Semis against the Magic, he only scored 19 PPG on 43% shooting and 33% from 3 point line.

When your 2nd best player is Glen Davis and there is no Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen is completely off, Rondo is hesitant and just not stepping up against the likes of Rafer Alston....Pierce should have exploded and averaged 30 in the series.

That series would have been over in 5 games.

I'm not trashing Lebron, just giving Lee 2 points on a nice layup that was goaltended.  Not trashing Lebron, just giving Superman his block.  Not trashing LeBron just not calling a foul on Turk because he got all "headband".  Pierce played too many minutes in the regular season, he was tired in the playoffs. 11 full NBA seasons & 3 NCAA seasons. Pierce is a leader and a winner and a champion. He's one of the most underrated players in the NBA ever. Kobe's Topps Chrome rookie sells for $150, Lebron's Topps Chrome rookie sells for $80, Pierce's Topps Chrome rookie sells for $2. Now tell me that Lebron/Kobe are 40-75 times better than Pierce. And if that is true why did Lebron loose the most important jump ball of his life to Pierce, and why did Kobe lose by 39 in the most important game of his life to Pierce.

I didn't watch the game but according to the recaps and your comments it wasn't pretty. Still Orlando won, even though the refs made favorable calls for Cleveland. Down 2-1, the Cavs must be really worried now since they are clearly less dangerous on the road (especially in Orlando) and since LeBron is the only player on their team who is playing to his usual level.

By the way, Mo Williams is now officially the player I hate the most on this team. See his whining comments about Anthony Johnson's "elbow" :

Quote
At the postgame press conference, Williams, looking like someone who'd been roughed up by some wise guys, didn't mince words. Asked if he thought Johnson nailed him with a cheap shot, he said, "Most definitely.''

Then he talked about how Johnson hit him in Game 2, when they both flew into the front row at Quicken Loans Arena while going for a loose ball. "This is the second time,'' Williams said. "He gave me the elbow then.''

Williams, who got his nickname from his love for mob movies, said he won't retaliate against Johnson. But in doing so, he nailed the Orlando backup with a cheap shot of the verbal variety.

"I got bigger fish to fry,'' he said. "I got to go and figure out how I can make some shots and get open looks. I couldn't care less about Anthony Johnson -- he plays 12 minutes a game. I couldn't care less.''

Johnson plays 12 minutes a game but at least he is way more effective than Mo in 40 minutes... how can he say that considering his stats in the playoffs (and in this series)? ???

Totally agree. AJ was trying to get his game on because Mo got whistled for the and-1 and AJ was going for the 3 point play. He was trying to make a play and they made it look like he was going for a cheap shot which wasn't true. The one moment where AJ could have gotten and and-1 and they take it away from him because Mo's face got in the way.

Wow.  I would have never imagined the value of Topp's Chrome rookie cards would be used to justify the true value of one player vs. another....shows just how naive I really am.

C'mon now, Pierce is much worse than LeBron, there is not even a comparison... Last year Pierce gave 100% of what he was able to give for a reason, to achieve a goal, and still he wasn't better than LeBron!! He might have been as valuable as LeBron last year, he might have been the best player in the world for a month, he might have been the best TEAM player for the whole season!! But take a look at him this year, he was no good at all in the playoffs! I'm not saying that the Captain is the player we saw in this year's playoffs... but also he's not the player we saw in last year's Finals(or Game 7 against the Cavs)!! This year he was banged up, last year he was hungry as hell to fulfill his biggest dream and get his ring... IMO Paul Pierce is still a good Top-10 player atm, he's one of the best guard-forwards of the decade, but no more than that, don't compare him with LeBron & Kobe, especially LeBron! This guy's gonna be a legend!!

I'm glad Paul is gonna be a Celtics' legend by the time he retires, this is enough for me and he will always be my favorite basketball player, ever, this ain't gonna change!!
"Life has so many hurdles. Some of them I've hopped over, some of them I've tripped over. The key is to get back up and finish the race."- Paul Pierce

And he did finish...

Each game seems to take on its own DNA..."life(game)is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."

Thats the same way I felt in our series against Orlando. And Chicago.

Question I got asked a lot:
"Hey, who's gonna win the next game, Celtics or (team X)"

Answer I began giving after we dropped game 1:
"I don't have a clue. Could be a blowout for the C's..could be a blowout for Team X, could be a nail biter. The only thing I do know if is it comes down to a last second shot, the C's will probably take it"
