I really think if the Celts could add Tyson Chandler to their front court they would be such a dominate Defensive team, even more than when they won the Championship. He is obviously on the trading block as he was traded last season and New Orleans is looking to cut pay roll .

SO here's the trade:

Bos Sends : Ray Allen, BBD(S+T 4 yr 20 mil) and Scal  = 26 Mil going out

NO  Sends : Tyson Chandler,  Peja Stojakovic = 23 Mil going out

Why for Boston: For Boston, while I hate to see Ray Allen go it would be bringing us back a young Defensive stud in the low post. Can you imagine the front court of Perk, KG and Chandler .... No opposing team would have much luck driving to the basket. Also you now have two guys in KG and Chandler that can get easy points on alley opps, Rondo is capable of driving into the lane and just throwing it up for Chandler to finish like he used to with Chris Paul.

I also have us getting Peja Stojacovic in this trade for salary reason. Even if we can't get Peja( who is 2 years younger than Ray) in the deal, NO has other solid wing men like Rasual Butler, Mo Peterson and James Posey who could be put into the package to make it work

Why for New Orleans: New Orleans is clearly looking to cut salary and Chandler appears to be the easiest way to do it. If they traded Chandler and Peja they would be cutting about 20 mil in Salary after next season, while still being able to be competitive next season and get under the salary cap for the big 2010 free agent class.

New Celtics Roster:

PG: Rondo/ Marbury or FA PG
SG: Peja or Rasual Butler depending on whos in the trade/ House/ Walker
SF: PP/ FA wing/ Giddens/ Walker
PF: KG/ Chandler/ Powe
 C: Perk/ Chandler/ KG

So what do you guys think?

Why would they take both BBD and Scal? That forces them to take on more salary than they need to. In fact, why would any team take Scal unless they have to?

Also, S&T would probably require BBD to already have negotiations with the team that he would be traded to so that he can get the contract that he wants.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
Last year they traded him in a pure salary dump move for Joe Smith and bums. There is no reason we would need to give up Ray to go out and get him.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Well Scal is on his last year of his deal so he is an expiring contract and gives them a little more depth. Scal played solid in the Playoffs and is a good team guy. Also I think New Orleans would be interested in BBD because he showed he can play at a pretty high level in the playoffs and he went to LSU and lead them to the final four so he is kind of a hometown hero .

I think Wilcox was more significant in that deal than Joe Smith.

chandler is one of the options that could be matched money wise by the expiring deals of Giddens, Walker, pruitt, house, tony, and scal.  Would new orleans do a straight salary dump? if so, we can save them a few million right away and all the above players come off the books the following year (giddens has a team option), saving them the full value of chandler's contract.

I don't believe you have to include Walker in this deal for the numbers to work.

The only injury that he had was a toe injury that canceled the trade to Oklahoma City last year right? I am not aware of any other serious injuries he has had are there any ?

Imagine him backing up Perk and KG.  That 2nd unit would now have the anchor we were missing so badly this year after PJ retired.

The thought of this makes me drool a little.

He's had the same toe problem for a few years and he's got a badly messed up ankle that's kept him hobbled as well. Probably caused by playing on the toe in part.

I don't know about the Ray for Peja/Tyson idea...but there has to be some kind of good deal possible with NO. I think we're much more likely to get Chandler and Posey than Chandler and Peja.

I think the best thing we can do with Ray is keep him and hopefully resign him for a much much cheaper deal. Otherwise, he probably does get traded, but not this summer...much closer to the end of his deal.

Leon and cash are probably a lot more interesting to the Hornets then a straight up salary dump. Leon and cash, and Tony Allen are probably the most enticing things we can offer them. Both of these guys are very athletic and could play well with Chris Paul. OKC also like Tony and might make a three way deal possible.

They wouldn't want Scal and we shouldn't trade him anyway. Ditto with Eddie House. Giddens, Walker, and Pruit though...we need guys who can play in the playoffs, sorry kids.

Don't like this deal due to Chandler's injury history and Peja's declining play.
