PG Rondo Bell
SG Jefferson House?
SF Pierce Walker?
PF KG  Davis
C  Perk  Gadz

Along with Scali and Powe.

Add a good player at the MLE and at the LLE, and the Celtics should be set to roll.  Plus, Jefferson should improve an already top defense and take pressure off Pierce against guys like LeBron.

Well, it's probably the most reasonable "trade Ray" idea I've seen, but I'm not certain what Milwaukee would want Ray for over Jefferson, and I think we're getting the better of each of the other guys involved as well.

I like the idea though (and I'm not a "Trade Ray" guy..or a "Trade ex NFL Punter Ray Guy" guy either for that matter)
Yup

I'd rather keep Ray.  Plus Jefferson plays the same position as Paul.  It's going to be hard for the C's to part with Ray as long as we are trying to win a title.  The guy is just such a winner who hits a crazy amount of game winning and clutch shots.

I'd also rather keep Ray.

In my opinion, Ray is stil the better player, and Jefferson isn't as good a fit.

If we're going to trade Ray we're better off getting a Shooter.

Yeah I'd keep Ray. Jefferson is good but Ray i feel is better and plays a different position.

Doesn't it seem like the Bucks should be so much better? We have all heard the possible trade ideas with Redd for Ray- now Jefferson for Ray? And they wouldn't do Bogut for Ray- if they have three guys that would be legitimate trades for Ray, I think they may be something next year- as long as they aren't injured again...

How about Kevin Martin for Ray? That I'd do.

I was thinking about a similar deal this morning, but I only think the C's consider trading Ray for Jefferson and Gadzuric is if they throw in their lottery pick this year (and the C's could possibly throw in a future pick or something).

Jefferson is not an upgrade over Ray, and his contract is not great, when you consider someone like Butler, who is a superior player makes $8 million less over the next two years.  And then when you throw in Gadzuric, whose contract has become an albatross, in the Mark Blount realm (Gadzuric tries harder, but Blount was a better player), it is not a good deal.

Now, perhaps if it were Ray for Jefferson and Ridnour, the C's would consider it.  Ridnour would go a long way to solving the problem at backup PG...and his contract is coming off the books.  But I still don't think this is an enticing enough deal to get them to break up the big 3.

Kevin Martin, Kenny Thomas, and Beno Udrih for Ray and Tony Allen works.

I'd rather Take Michael Redd and Joe Alexander.

RJ and Pierce are pretty much the same player. I don't think it will mesh that well. Redd well get and make the shots Ray Allen would have left. Alexander would be a good backup to both Pierce and Redd.

Is Michael Redd gonna be the same after that devastating injury, though?  Pretty big gamble there.

He worked pretty well with Carter and Kidd and no big men.

On the Celtics, he would be teamed up with Rondo and Pierce, but here, there will be good big men in KG and Perk.

(I compare styles of Pierce and Carter as well as Kidd and Rondo.  Clearly Kidd at that point is better then Rondo at this point.)

And to this point, is there any SG or SF that Pierce and or Jefferson could not guard that Ray can?  Sure, players like Gordon, but Jefferson or Pierce will kill him on the other end with their physicality.

Jefferson's injury problems would make him too much of a liability on this team.

I think the beauty of the current big three is that their styles are so complementary and really make it hard for other teams to defend. Of course RJ and PP will require double teams, and they are hard to stop, but you won't see us effectively spread the floor on offense, simply put, teams will look to clog the lanes, and I know, Pierce is a decent 3 point shooter, but I think teams will be OK with whim taking 10 shots from there.

It worked well with VC because Carter is an underrated, but very good outside shooter. Hence, they were able to spread the floor. Heck the best years the Nets had was when they went to the finals 2 straight years. That's when they had guys like Lucious Harris, Keith Van Horn and Kerry Kittles on the wings.
