David Thorpe's opinion means nothing.  I just think it's funny that he's still hating on the Celtics, like he's been hating on them ever since they cut Thorpe's client, Orien Greene.

I'm not surprised at this. I'm more surprised to find you reading David Thorpe. I learned a long time ago that the guy is an idiot.

I agree with Thorpe in the first comment.  That was just whining.  In the playoffs EVERYONE is playing with injuries.  If you are actually playing with it, it is no longer an excuse.  However, the second comment is laughable.  I don't think the Magic (even with Nelson) would stand a chance against the C's with a healthy Garnett and Powe.

Thorpe is a manufactured celebrity. He's done nothing..has few if any "inside sources", and on top of that, 'he don't write good.'

The only reason why we even care what he says is that ESPN publishes him. Remember though that ESPN publishes Skip Bayless too.

Haha.  I don't read David Thorpe.  I do read Celtics Hub, though, which posted the pics.  They're a great blog.

Agree 100%.  Complaining about nicks and bruises at this point simply is whining.  On Thorpe's second point, well he is just an idiot.

Which is why I think the Celtics handled the injuries perfectly. Don't mention them during the playoffs to make excuses. Just shut up and play as hard as you can. Once you're done playing nothing wrong with giving the fans a bit more information.

I really enjoy Thorpe and generally respect his opinions.  I 100% agree with his first comment and 100% disagree with his second comment.  It's his job to give his opinions and I'm fine with whatever he says.

I'm not sure why you need to mention that it is "his job".

Last two seasons, Celtics vs. Magic

11/18/07 - Celtics 102 @ Magic 104
12/23/07 - Magic 91 @ Celtics 103
1/27/08 - Celtics 93 @ Magic 96 *No KG, Jameer Nelson
12/01/08 - Magic 88 @ Celtics 107 *No Jameer Nelson
1/22/09 - Celtics 90 @ Magic 80
3/08/09 - Magic 86 @ Celtics 79 *No Jameer Nelson, KG, Rondo
3/25/09 - Celtics 82 @ Magic 84 *No Jameer Nelson, KG's last, very limited game

So, technically, there isn't exactly a large sample size of games the past two seasons, where both of these teams have been "at full strength."  Celtics went 2-1 in those 3 games, and the only loss was the first loss of the 2007-2008 season when Pierce missed that three at the buzzer.

Thorpe sounds as if it's not even close.  He's completely wrong, and the Magic needed 7 games to beat a KG-less Celtics team.

Pure hating by Thorpe, ridiculous.

As for the health concerns I thought Doc was right to talk about it after the Celtics were eliminated. Plus, he was asked about it in the Callahan show, he didn't bring it himself, and never talked about it during the series when he could have used it as an excuse. Even in the Chicago series he kept saying that fatigue wasn't an excuse.

Who's David Thorpe?

Some trainer who chats on ESPN all the time.  No need to remember his name, his chats are awful, and filled with useless drivel.  He gives no details on his answers to questions.  I stopped reading his stuff about a year ago because it actually frustrates me that they let this guy talk to the public.
