I'm addicted to salt, so I make sure it's sea salt, which is way better for your arteries than the salt we all grew up on.  I don't eat processed foods so that also helps me get away with my loadin' on the salt habit...

My favorite food is donuts, all kinds but especially heavy, greasy ones.   I don't eat gluten anymore, however, so that protects me from the donut, pastry, croissant zone, although gluten free products are slowly doing a good job at becoming more sinfully good.  Light on the sugar and heavy on the fat content and you've sold me.

Since losing weight is just a matter of burning more calories than you take in I just cut to the chase and start skipping meals and eating a lot less if I want to lose weight. It's always worked for me. I just draw on Ghandi for inspiration. I'm like if that man could not eat for a month in the name of something that will never happen (peace) then I can do it for a day in the name of something like vanity and saving a buck...ooohhh donuts!

Also I talked to an Olympic fencer once and was like "What's better? Skim milk or something else?"

He laughed at me and said "I eat what I want and then work it off."

I don't exercise anymore but in the days I did I just told myself "Nobody on Earth who can run a 5 minute mile is fat"

i just started adding more veggies to my meals and less meat...like pita bread stuff with thin sliced lunch meat with alot of lettuce and tomatoes and red onions. also i like ground beef so ive learned to use more ground turkey when i make burgers. instead of butter or  vegetable oil i use the spray olive oil when i scramble eggs and stir fryin veggies...alotta water is important

and a 40oz once in awhile is good for the blood

An innovation of mine from when I was about 12 years old.
I got home from school one day and had a sudden craving for chicken pot pie, carrots, and rice all at once.
This meal was the outcome.

Willow Tree Chicken / Turkey Pot Pie (No veggies)

Topped with...

Uncle Ben's Broccoli Rice Au Gratin... or any kind of rice.

Topped with...

Chopped raw baby carrots that are dipped in wishbone house italian dressing... or whatever dressing you want.

Seriously the deliciousness of this meal can't be put into words. I've eaten it at least once a week since I first made it .

I usually eat healthy but lately I've been just putting away the bad stuff.

In the past two days I have eaten (meals in reverse order from the last one I had):

Today: Lunch: two hot dogs, a diet soda

Today: Breakfast: 3 pieces of french toast, stawberries and syrup

Last Night: Dinner: a bowl of asparagus soup, ice cream

Yesterday: Lunch: A huge Cuban panini with chipotle mayo, two slices of pizza, a diet coke

Yesterday: Breakfast: Nutrigrain bar

Two days ago: Dinner: FOUR slices of pizza, diet coke

So yeah I've gained about two pound in the last 2 1/2 days.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I am very impressed with the thoughtful eating habits expressed in this thread.

I regret that my food consumption is moslty based on this motto: When hungry -- eat.  And when hungry, I tend to choose by taste rather than nutrition. I have some level of consciousness of what I intake, but only to moderate rather than eliminate.  It is in the back of my mind not to overdo the real fatty foods -- fried chicken, ribs, sausage...  but I do eat all of those in moderation.  I also eat my share of fast foods and tend to mix the good with the bad in my orders -- for instance, at McDonald's I'll have 2 grilled chicken snack wraps along with my filet o' fish; at Taco Bell, I'll get 2 chicken tacos along with 2 beef.

I eat a lot pasta (pesto or red sauce and lots of parmesan), ground beef (burger or meatballs) about once a week, pizza once every 2 weeks, a touch of bacon on my subs (2 strips on my chicken & bacon at Subway), and a good hot dog or 2 when the spirit moves. I really love potato chips (though I do moderate), and I also enjoy ice cream -- though not in those mountainous portions that some do -- usually a kid-size.

To make matters worse, I gave up fruit about 10 years ago. Why? I don't like it.  I neither like the flavor nor texture of most fruits.  I hate fruit cooked in anything (including fruit pies) and there are only a couple of fresh fruits that I can tolerate (pineapple; grapefruit).   I do, however, eat a portion or 2 of vgetables daily.

Interestingly, I have no weight problems (I weigh less than I did in college), my blood pressure has always been normal, my pulse rate is typically between 40 and 50, and my cholesterol levels (and all other blood/urine test levels) are very healthy. I exercise 4 times a week for about 1/2 hour each and also play basketball once a week.  Since I'll be 51 years old in August, I'll probably continue my questionable eating habits.
