My daily diet is pretty much:

Breakfast: Bowl of cereal, glass of OJ

morning snack: power bar, powerade

lunch: turkey or ham + cheese sandwich on wheat with mayo, milk, potato chips

afternoon snack: some peanuts, powerade

dinner: any type of meat, poultry, fish, with a side such as corn, carrots, broccoli, potatoes & a salad with a glass of milk. 

Don't really like to eat past 8-8:30 PM, but if I do have a little snack before bed, most likely a yogurt or some nuts.

Based on your avatar, I was expecting more of a Tyrone Biggums-esk diet.  Like a peanut butter and crack sandwhich, maybe washed down with some Red Balls.

Who here consciously tries to eat healthily? How do you go about doing it? What kind of foods do you eat? And how do you find enough time to prepare all your food and not have it become too time consuming? 

Here are a few easy things I do: I make sure I drink enough water throughout the day--simple enough, I hardly ever drink soda--if I do it would be diet, and I hardly ever eat fast food--the seldom times I do it's usually a food emergency. Other than that, I watch my sodium, sugar, and bad fat intake. I should admit though, it does get a little boring and time consuming to be food conscious--especially when you ate lots and lots of junk food as a kid. Generally, I try and eat the foods that are highest in nutrition per calorie. But pizza is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine, and the few times I do eat at a fast food place it's always pizza . So what do you guys eat? How food conscious are you? And what are some of your tricks to the trade?

I take in way too much:

red meat
sugar
fat

 Studied nutrition for four years. General tip don't drink Milk. It's filled with Pus. Yes Pus. the farmers who have to milk the cows get warts all over their hands.

 Try Almond milk, they sell it in stores now. Blue Diamond is my favorite Vanilla plain and Choc. are all really good.

 For those looking to lose weight. Start shifting to a diet of 50% raw food. Meaning More Fruits, veggies like Cucumbers (best food for your kidneys) Celery Ph balance food and #1 source of organic sodium the good kind, Salad's try half an avacado on your salad, Avacado is a perfect food meaning it has a balance of Fats carbs and protien.

 Also I put nuts and seeds on my salads and they taste great too.

 Guys. Pumpkin seeds are the most important food for your prostate. Because they are loaded with ZINC. Their cheap and taste good too.

 Well that's all for now. Any questions I'll be happy to answer.

TP, some of that is useful (pumpkin seeds) and hadn't thought of nuts and seeds on salad. Didn't know about milk, didn't know avocado was so good for you and same for cucumber. I've always hated cucumber, but I'm willing to give it a try.

I think once you turn the corner and start eating healthily it becomes habit and you're willing to try anything.

definitely...it's like working out..the hardest part i think in exercising is the beginning...people get frustrated at times because they expect to lose 50 lbs or to gain 50 lbs of musclve overnight, but for those who keep going, and eventually see results little by little, it makes it that much more easier to go.  Same with eating healthy, you're body will eventually start to feel good, you'll have more energy, and it'll be easier to stick to

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
I have to cut weight/maintain weight along with working out, so my typical diet consists of:

Yogurt for breakfast
Grilled chicken sandwich for lunch (occasionally a chicken, bean and rice burrito with hot sauce, no cheese)
Tuna with relish on salad, pasta with lean turkey meat sauce, homemade turkey chili (mostly vegetables, although cooked, but great for protein), or grilled chicken and rice for dinner.

Chocolate milk post workout for its recovery abilities - better than Gatorade...popsicles for a frozen snack, and unfortunately a lot of diet sodas.  Snacks are usually dried fruit and occasionally yogurt covered cranberries/raisins.

My weaknesses are Chick-fil-a (although a grilled chicken sandwich meal there isn't too unhealthy) and alcohol/drunk eating, but that's limited to the weekends, and cut out entirely if I have to make weight.  I haven't had to do that in a while though, and this weekend is the Indy 500, so the diet plan is out for a few days at least.

I try to drink a half gallon+ of water a day, always start my day with a glass of OJ and a banana

I eat a lean pocket for lunch about 4-7 days, usually with an apple

Dinner is pretty much open, that's where I tend to get most of my calories, but if I'm looking ot eat healthy, chicken grilled, or turkey burgers/turkey sloppy joes are some healthy options
