Perk is obviously a hero, but he's got chronic shoulder troubles.  Thus he merits a greater-than-usual level of backup, and good enough big guys are rare enough to merit a premium.

So the C's may end up paying a bit less than average for their starting center--and a bit more than average for their backup center.

I have Zaza ranked third among the possible big man free agents behind Wallace and McDyess.

does anybody think that ZaZa might be looking to get a starter job somewhere instead of signing on with Title contender to be a role player.

he's a young guy. i could kinda see him going to a less good team with an opening at C to show that he is good enough to start.

Sure he would. But I think he'll go where ever the money is best. Its mostly about the money with NBA players.

Za Za would go a long way to counteracting any advantage CLE would have over us in the front court. He would totally neutralize Varejao.
I wonder how many times they'd both flop on the same play.....
No more than baby does.

the choice is:

same money.

non-playoff team/starter vs. Title contender/role player

Baby doesn't flop nearly as much as either of them. Just look at charges drawn per minute.

Usually doesn't break down that cleanly. But yeah he could choose somewhere that would give him more minutes.

no, i know. just asking it that way to see what people think his priorities might be.

i tend to think that players want that shot at a Title. but if you're 24 and  you think you are good enough to be a starter, that might take precedence....

maybe he could take a two year deal. go after a Title and still be young enough to go after a starter job.

one team that could go heavy after him is the Mavs. they need a starting center and are a playoff team...

And Powe flops as much, if not more than Baby.  The fact is, flopping is a part of the NBA, and there are very few players who DON'T do it (Of course two of them are Garnett and Perkins).

Yes, I rank those 3 as my top 3 as well. I think we have a legit shot at all three.

As others have stated, it might be hard to get Zaza to give up a starting role in favor of being a 20-24 MPG bench player.

I'm not sure he'll have many offers as a starter. What teams where you thinking about?
