I think that the chance to improve out team is by free agency this summer. The likes of Sheed Wallace, McDyess and Nesterovic would be amazing pieces for our bench.

That said, I was bored so I explored through the Trade Checker the possibilities of trades that I could live with. Our only real trade pieces for a minor trade would involve Brian Scalabrine and Tony Allen. Scal has been outstanding this season, and although now I have started to appreciate the guy, one has to offer some valuable players to get some good value in return. Here are some of my experiments:

1. Tony and Scal to:

Bobcats for Raja Bell
Pacers for Jeff Foster
Hornets for James Posey
Sixers for Reggie Evans
Suns for Leandro Barbosa
Blazers for Travis Outlaw and Sergio Rodriguez
Wizards for Brendan Haywood

2. Tony, Scal and Pruitt to:

Rockets for Shane Battier

3. Tony, Scal, Pruitt and Giddens to:

Nets for Keyon Dooling, Eduardo Najera and Jarvis Hayes

Kings for Andres Nocioni

Of course, this is all for fun sake, but I thought i could share some of the wonders of playing GM while we wait for the off season to heat up ;)

I'm not in love with the Nets or Wizards deals in that group.

Nor, frankly, do I consider trading any of those four any more than providing the recipient a salary dump.

But with that said, the vast majority of those deals would improve our club. The question is, would the other team do any of them.

Well, also the question is which team would try to help the Boston Celtics regain their throne. I tried not to choose teams like San Antonio (Bowen, Oberto was another package that could be helpful) because I doubted seriously that they would happen. The Houston deal for Battier is not likely either, but who knows?

Do the Phoenix deal. Everytime we trade with Phoenix it results in another championship.
Wins are few, times are hard. Here is your bleeping St Patricks Day Card.

I like the Portland deal. The two players we get are both better than what we are giving up.

I really love the Barbosa deal, he would allow us to spell Rondo and maybe play him and Ray at the same time.
I'm not sure if the C's would do the Posey deal for the same reason that they didn't give him the extra year when they had the opportunity to sign him last year.
Noccioni would be a great pick up so would Raja Bell.
DKC:  Rockets

I think the James Posey deal is the only one which both teams would agree to and at the same would add value to Boston.

Hey, why not send the Hornets some pocket change to buy Scal out. Then, we'll take him back and correct the Posey mistake while getting the brain-dead basketball of Tony Allen out of town.

Winner all the way around.

Would the Blazers do that deal? That would give us a back-up to Paul, who'd also work in a small ball lineup and a back up pg.

I think if they can get barbosa from phoenix its a no brainer, a three guard rotation of barbosa, allen and rondo would be great
Just when you think they've got the answers....

 I change the questions.

We didn't want to sign Posey to that deal... that's why he signed with The Hornets. Us trading for him would make us inherit the deal we didn't want. He's not worth the years.

Celtics Get- Shane Battier

Rockets Get- Gabe Pruitt (expirting Contract)
              Tony Allen (expiring contract)
               Brian Scalabrine (expiring contract)

all that money coming off the books through expiring contracts could be really good for Houston, especially when considering TMAC's 21mil comes off in that same offseason.
