not really, but the extra rest will be nice.

from the front page:

Quote
He said that Ray played with a hamstring injury during the Orlando series, Pierce is dealing with bone spurs which may require surgery, and Perk may have surgery on his shoulder.

He also said that he thought their was a better chance Davis would return than Marbury.

the bone spurs for pierce suck, hopefully they aren't in a joint.

If perk needs surgery, thats huge, because that means his shoulder will need another off season of rest, and would seem to be chronic.

According to the Herald this morning, Perk won't need surgery.  Just rest

Quote
Kendrick Perkins [stats], who strained his often-injured left shoulder during the Eastern Conference semifinals by bumping against Magic center Dwight Howard, has at least one bit of good news.

Surgery apparently isn’t in his stars this time around. Perkins did have shoulder surgery last summer.

“Just rest,” said the Celtics center, who has had three shoulder surgeries, including two on the left. “I can just rest it and go from there.

And I was called everything under the sun for posting a topic similar to this on sunday. But now that people are able to realize we would have run into a buzz saw in cleveland with no chance in hell of winning, its alright to exahale and say it might be for the better?
I know what the op is saying, but I find it rather funny.

right, but this is after it happened, your thread was a day before a pivotal game seven, and people took it, rightly or wrongly, as giving up before the game even happened.

One is after the fact, and whats done is done. the other thread was right before an elimination game, timing is kinda important.

Like I said on the blog news, I was surprised to learn this. It just gives even more credit to the team for playing through it until this game 7.

What is a "bone spur"? I don't have any good translation and I hope it's not too severe (and since it probably needs surgey it seems like a bad injury to me).

"Fortunately" the team got in vacation early this year and will rest this summer.

I fail to see why timing has anything to do with it. I didn't know about these other injuries(i suspected though). But we all seen the level of play they exibited wasn't going to get us by Cleveland. Now I didn't want us to lose, but I am relieved that I dont have to see us get beat down. This evidence just reaffirms that we wouldn't have had a chance.

Cor had a good write up on bone spurs. The are normally not that serious a surgery and have limited long term effects, but that can change based on location. A bone spur that is buried under a tendon, for example is different than one forming in a place where it doesn't impact muscle movement but just hurts.

Hopefully its the less serious version :(

Plus Rondo's ankle (ankles?)...

So our starting 5 was injured.   We gave all of KG's minutes to some 2nd year 2nd rounder who is short and obese.   Our bench consisted of 3 players...  a fat white guy who wasn't on our playoff roster last year and who was coming off 3 concussions.     A washed up point guard who hasn't played nba basketball in 2 years... and Eddie House who does only one thing well most of the time.

Explain to me again how this team was able to beat Chicago and take Orlando to 7?  That ragtag bunch didn't get enough credit for overachieving.  The Champs never got a chance to actually defend their belt.

Thanks for the answer!

Yeah, I hope it's not a serious injury at all... Finally the reality caught us back. When we were complaining all season about all the minutes played by Ray and Paul we were right, because now we are paying the price of not having a good bench rotation at the 2 and 3 spots. Hopefully this won't be a problem anymore after Danny's offseason moves/acquisitions.

If you don't know why there's a difference between posting a "im ok with losing" thread while the team is still in it and 3 days after...I don't knwo what tot ell you.
