The injuries provide those who remain in denial about Danny's terrible summer of 2008 an excuse - but not a rationale.

One year is gone, lost to injuries and a total failure by management to prepare this club.

It's time to get aggressive again in the off-season, with free agents and in packaging our spare parts.

Who's in denial? I'd say it's the people who still claim that Ainge knocked us from the ranks of realistic title contenders with his "total failure" last summer when the results were clearly showing the opposite was true.

what about the people who didn't consider the bench  filling-out a "total failure", but simply thought it left key holes that could be exploited at some point in the playoffs...?

How many people thought Perk was a bust for years?  And Rondo, after his first year had how many naysayers?  Who's to say that Danny didn't score big with Walker and Giddens, and he's got the team's backups and eventual replacements for Pierce and Allen on perfect track now?

It's too soon to judge Danny's '08 off-season!

I dunno. I'd say that the KG injury rendered the playoff predictions moot, kind of like Paul's stress fracture blew up all the predictions for that season. But some of them will get lumped in with the guys who thought we were desperate for more outside shooters instead of someone who could create their own shot when Paul was out of the game.

while i partly agree with you that the KG injury makes post season assessments of pre and mid season moves difficult, I do think we had clear needs for length and a wing off the bench last summer and in both playoff series and had healthy players (Mikki and TA) that were supposed to fill those roles and simply couldn't get the job done...

and we now know that all of the Big Three were battling injuries and still these guy couldn't get on the floor..

I don't know. i think it's pretty clear that we had needs that just weren't filled the way they should have been.

were they Title-ending with a KG sans knee injury? probably not.  but again, we now know that Ray and Paul were battling injuries too.

How many games did Perk and Rondo play in the Developmental League? The guys Danny likes stay with the big club. The Giddens's and Gerald's go to "develop."

Danny invited O'Bryant to a tryout and signed him. I think the possibility of landing Swift (better project than O'Bryant, just hurt by many injuries) is quite certain.

It would be a nice idea by Danny to do so
