Ok after an article i just read from realgm.com saying that the celts do have to offer the Full MLE which is 5 years 5.5 million a year if not mistaken makes me feel a little better. As well we have the the LLE which is 2.2 million at the max of 2 years. Sooo my dream off-season would be offer the Full MLE to Shawn Marion for the 6th man role. Go sign Big Baby if he doesn't return for his job. Then go get Dahnty Jones for the LLE. Then trade Tony Allen because i believe that experiment is over with. I know some blanks and there not the best but that would be my dream situation.. What is yours!

yup yup, that article got me salivating about Marion as well.

Here's my dream come true.

FA signings:  Marion, McDysse
Keep:  Davis, Powe, Scal, House and Walker

Then we can play Davis purely as a backup Center, where he is most effective defensively.  And we'd have big time players like Dice and Marion coming off the bench.  I'm not convinced that KG comes back 100%, so I'd prefer signing a big like Dice who can more effectively fill in at pf if need be while still having enough length to play some center.

Brining in Marion as our 6th man would be a home run though.

Marion signing for the MLE to play off the bench? I think that's pipe-dream.

I don't have a dream scenario at this point in time. Maybe something along the lines of Grant Hill, McDyess, Quinton Ross, Vasquez, Terrel McIntyre; keeping House, Scal and a couple of projects to fill the roster. I think the MLE and 3 min. salaries is enough to sign these guys.

Just a note: every year we have the MLE for 5 years to offer. Every other year we have the LLE. However, that doesn't mean the team is using them.

Rasheed Wallace, Grant Hill and keeping Starbury would be a coup

I'll go with my dream realistic off-season:

1. Sign Antonio McDyess, Grant Hill, and Quinton Ross (MLE, LLE and minimum salary)

2.  Resign BBD, Starbury, and Powe.

3.  Let Pruitt and Moore walk.

4.  Trade Tony and Scal for Nocioni.

Roster:

Perk / McDyess / BBD
KG / BBD / Nocioni / Powe
Pierce / Hill / Nocioni / Walker
Ray / Ross / House / Giddens
Rondo / Starbury / House

To me, that's a "win now" team, that still retains its key pieces for the future.  It's also a team that we could put together using our current cap exceptions.

Problem with "dream scenerios" is that players won't want to come here and play for cheap.

We have a better shot at signing ex-Celtics, guys who actually might want to play for us.

I had no idea such a team was conceivable.  I love that team, and even if Baby is too expensive to keep, I would still love that team, and a cheap 7 footer could be added in his place.

I'd rather get Rasheed Wallace.
Keep Powe, let BBD walk.
Develope Walker to back up Pierce (Pierce plays 40 min. a game anyway)

Rondo/marbury
Allen/house
Pierce/Walker
Garnet/Powe (Scal first half season)
Wallace/Perkins

Banner 18 if healthy  :)

The Nocioni part is the long-shot part of the scenario.  Sacramento may be willing to get out from under his contract, much like they explored last season.  We'd almost certainly have to contribute cash, and potentially a pick.

I agree, though:  if we could put together that team, even without BBD, I'd be happy with it.

TP for the best trade idea I've seen today.  Nocioni would be a great fit, maybe a little expensive, but a great fit none the less.  Hopefully the front office learned its lesson about 'getting what you pay for' this year.

What lesson do they need to learn? Just becuase they didn't sign the guys you wanted doesn't mean they FAILED. You guys are so thick headed, we won 62 games with KG out for 1/3 of the season, he didn't play for the entire playoffs and we were one game away from the ECF's.

TA and Scal for Nocioni is a cool idea but i really think our investments should go towards a strong backup big.

The team won 62 games, but couldn't count on more than 1/3 of its roster for contributions (Walker, Giddens, Pruitt, Tony, Moore, and really, Starbury too.)  With two major injuries, less than 50% of the team was playing and contributing consistently.  There's a lesson to be learned there, I think, which is to fill the roster with legitimate NBA players.

Agreed, though it would be nice to see some of those guys (like Walker or Giddens) become legitimate NBA players.  Still, Ainge really has to be smarter, particularly with this aging roster.  Pierce and Allen were clearly burnt out by the time the playoffs started.
