Joe Johnson back to the Celtics

  Joe Johnson is one of the few players I'd go for in a "trade Ray" scenario. For us, though, it has to be a salary dump for Atlanta, as we don't have the assets to do a straight up talent for talent trade.

  I meant Johnson's contract itself, although I didn't check it's length before I posted. If he had 3-4 years left on his deal (which  he doesn't) then I could see Atlanta possibly making the deal.

Johnson is a much better possibility since he is older and expiring soon (thus Atlanta would need to write a big fat check for him).  Even though is is more likely with Johnson, I see maybe a 1% chance the C's and Hawks would work out a trade.  IT just isn't likely.

  Agreed. My thinking was the main reason to trade Raywould be to get a similar but younger player. Since we don't have the talent to add to the deal to cover the age difference (aside from Rondo and Perk) theonly way to get it done is to find a longer deal that the other team wants to get out of. Not that I'd trade Ray for any of them, but like a Monta Ellis or Vince Carter or Richard Jefferson.

Charlotte has a lot of players like that.  I have no idea if they are interested in making moves, but Diaw, Wallace, and Okafor (who would likely be off limits) all have mid range and long contracts.  They also have Diop and Mohammad who make some scratch that could be used.

Depending on the direction Charlotte wants to go either of those trades would make sense for both teams.  Scalabrine could be added and the C's could take back more salary if necessary.

If the C's were able to pry Marvin away for the MLE, he'd be an interesting target. Can play three positions, very good defense, solid rebounder, a solid scorer.

But that was in 3 OT's and Johnson can go for 51 in regulation if he wanted to. Hes better defnesivly, hes younger and hes classy too. dont get my wrong i LOVE Ray Allen third favorite player in the NBA behind AI and Paul Pierce but after this year hes gonna decline. And Even if Johnson wasn't a class act he could change. Ray definitly wasn't one for his first few years in the NBA or at UCONN.

Yep, Joe Johnson is one of the few, very few players who can replace Allen, as he's aging! His style of play is pretty much similar to Ray's and he's younger, he plays better defense, he's bigger, etc...

Talking about his scoring abilities, OK, he's definitely no Ray Allen! But think of that: a team with Pierce, KG, Rondo if he continues to play like he's done in the playoffs, I don't think such a team needs someone better offensively than Joe Johnson!

Ray might be unstoppable when he's on fire, but take a closer look at what happened during these playoffs... We were trying to find Ray ALL THE TIME!! I mean, it's OK to try to feed the best outside shooter in the league but this made us unbelievably predictable, especially when it's also widely known that our alternative offensive plan is a Pierce iso! That's why the Magic shut down Ray, they made one single adjustment on their defense and they totally destroyed our offensive balance!
I think Joe Johnson is not as predictable and, with him, I think we might have better ball movement! I dunno, maybe I'm wrong but that's what I think, Joe Johnson would be a perfect trade for us...

Now, about the trade... Ray, BBD and TA for Joe Johnson and M. Williams?? Not gonna happen probably, but... right now I can't think of sth better, maybe you could gimme some ideas!!
