The key to the failure of the C's this year was not so much the loss of KG, but the flow of the team on offense and defense. Movement. We had the depth to beat Orlando (Probably not Lebron, as I think it's just his year). We struggled on both ends of the floor due to a few factors:

1) Pierce was not captain, Rondo was. Yeah, we want Rondo to improve and show everyone why he is incredible. Just watch a couple of his fake behind the backs, his quick steps to the hoop or especially that dunk over Howard. The guy is phenomenally gifted, but he also needs a few more years to mature. Big upside. Now about Pierce, he needs reduced minutes. Can you imagine if this year he had to put forth effort like he did last year against Lebron, AND THEN Kobe? A well rested Lebron would have Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.-slapped Pierce this year. You know it. I know it. Pierce is getting older, save his legs and let him be Co-Captain with Rondo. He still needs to feel like it's his team and I don't think he felt that way this year.

2) Body and ball movement was horrendous. I love DDB, but boy did he ever clog up the movement this year. Yeah, he got some looks and developed his jumper, but if you watch his positioning, he made the whole team either come through one of his near-flagrant picks or force a play from the other side. He can be a valuable player, but he needs to lose some weight and be much more mobile. Baby has fantastic hands, however, if his feet were a step quicker he'd help the flow on the floor AND be able to take it to the hoop more regularly. The movement slowly died in the post season, and that's why House had to hit his shots on the fastest release I think I've ever seen, AND Ray Allen had no chance to continue his awesome shooting percentage from downtown. He's smooth as ever, but not as quick as he once was. He had to work really hard to get open.

3) Micca Moore made Chris Pollard look good. That is not something I'd want to hear as a player. Moore has to go.

My hopes
Heal: KG, Ray Allen
Dump: Moore, TA, Pruit and Giddens
Keep: Scalabrine, Starbury
Develop: BBD (Weight, shot), Walker (Playtime)
Add: Artest, 5-7 year veteran PG
Do NOT add: Grant Hill

But the death of ball movement, as we went over, is because of KG.

With KG healthy, the celtics enjoy what all championship teams do, a low post player who can be used to draw doubles and force the defense to react. We also run a huge amount of pick and rolls, and KG is by far our best pick and roll guy, as he can do both the roll and the pop. davis is really limited to the pop, and Kendrick is nto a great guy to initiate the play with.

With KG out and no back up who has a post game that requires a double at any point, teams can do what they did to us, jam the top offensive option in the pick and roll, or double if no pick and roll is run.

With Kg in the lineup, Orlando and Chicago can't double paul 30 feet from the basket on the catch, as that woul leave KG posted up one on one under the basket, and be an easy matchup.

Teams also can't dedicate a defender to following ray allen and fronting him even when ray doesn't have the ball or is running a screen, because you can't risk that ray floats to the other side from KG and you don't have a man to help when rondo drives who ISN't coming from KG, allowing the easy dunk on the pass.

Teams with no low post presence (and we didn't have one this post season, I love perk but he isn't an intimidating low post option) are easy to defend, because you don't have to pull guys below the 3 point line to help with the big man, so you can double early and jam far away from the basket. You also lose the best guy we have at setting screens, which only helps defend ray.
