First a sober thought: Maybe Doc shouldn't have played Ray 36+ minutes a game during the regular season.

Now for venting: Ray Allen at this point in his career is no better than JJ Redick.

Barf!

I hope this comment is tongue and cheek.  To say Ray is no better at this point than JJ Redick is absurd.  People seem to forget the kind of season Ray had.  He was our most consistent player and he had one of his best and most efficient shooting seasons of his career.  Has he struggled in this round? Absolutely, but we would not even be here if it weren't for Ray.  Both he and Pierce have played an INSANE amount of minutes this season and in these playoffs, and I don't care if they are 25 or 55, it is amazing they have anything left in the tank.

As for last night, yes Ray missed some/all crucial shots, but how about we spread the blame around?  Rondo is playing great ball and putting up outrageous stats (hello 15 rebounds) but his failure to keep his man from penetrating at will continues to hurt us. Its sends our D scrambling and opens up wide open jump shots and easy put backs for Howard.  He also seems to make awful passing decisions at crucial points in the ball game.  (I realize his assist to turnover ratio is also absurd, but its when he is doing it.)  The offensive fouls and travels by Perk in the last few minutes did not help either.  It was a collective effort to lose that game.

Here is hoping Jesus goes off on Sunday and quiets down all the haters.

Ray was fine during the season. If he's tired it's from the Chicago series.

2 days off and moving to the Sunday night time slot cannot be bad thing at this point. The Celtics seem to have problems when their games are shown on ESPN/ABC and do alright when they are shown on TNT (must be that Barkley love we are getting).

BTW Kobe Bryant and the Fakers suck.  :D
Wins are few, times are hard. Here is your bleeping St Patricks Day Card.

But, he's not playing well in ANY facet of the game.  His defense has been subpar, and he's making more than his fair share of dumb plays (and the C's had plenty last night).  You expect at the very least that Jesus is going to play smart, but that hasn't really been the case.

I disagree.  He is missing shots, but is very aware of this and is taking less shots than most of the other starters.  His rebounding and assist numbers this series are also above what they were in the first round and the regular series.  He has seems to have made a few key rebounds, steals and deflections in the waning minutes of many of the games.  So he is helping in other ways.

This is not to say that he would be most helpful hitting shots or that he hasn't made a few dumb mistakes, just that he has been doing other things to help the team.

If Doc didn't play Ray all those minutes then we couldn't have won the games we won, and gotten into the 2 seed.

And if what you say is true of Ray and Reddick, then Ray still has one thing on him EXPERIENCE.

Forget his shooting, what is with his horrific turnovers?  Getting run down from behind?  Leaving his feet to pass and hitting defenders square in the chest as if they are wearing green?  What the ____ ?

In gathering the comments from the other side for Loy's I am always amazed at how fans turn on their teams and players.  I have always been proud that the Celtics fans aren't like that.  I always felt that Celtics fans had more loyalty to the team.  This thread disappoints me.

The Celtics are playing with heart and are gutting out these playoffs short handed and banged up.  Doc made the comment that at least 4 players will probably need surgery this off season.  That means that at least a couple of players that are out there playing and gutting out wins are playing hurt.  I know Perk is.  He wouldn't even have an MRI for fear they wouldn't let him play.   Rondo is still playing on sore ankles.  Who knows what other injuries are there but the players are playing through them.

As for Ray, he may not be injured, but he is definitely being very closely covered on defense.  The Magic have made it their main priority to not allow Ray any open looks. Period.

I love this team and I am proud of them.

I wonder if Ray is hurting a bit, for a jump shooter a slightly tweaked leg can cause a slump.

I noticed that Ray was wearing some sort of brace to start the game, but got rid of it early on in the game.  He may not be "injured" but if he is hurting it could have an effect on his shot.  Ray is way too much of a gamer to even bring up an injury publicly, he will just play through it.

Hopefully an extra day of rest will give him his legs back.

I agree with you FL, but the turnovers are really hurting, especially since he is not knocking down shots.  However, I should state my position here that I do not believe that Ray or any of the others Celtics are sucking.  They are just not putting togethers a full 48 minutes like we are used to seeing for whatever reason.  The turnovers are my main complaint and have been all year.

Don't Dwight Howard and the Magic suck for letting a KG and Powe-less Celtics team take them to and potentially beat them in 7 games?

Wow the number of negative threads on everything Celtics is unbelievable!!

I really appreciate this mock thread.  ;D

For all the haters and second guessers... Go outside, enjoy the month of May, walk your dog, do something with your friends, and please stop the whining... Then on Sunday watch the game and have fun.
