What's your "gotta have this game" Celtics superstition?

Mine is three fold.

First, I have to be wearing some kind of Celtics apparel at all times during a game. You can't switch apparel during games, you choose it, you wear it, bada boom. You can wear other things over it, this allows for bar nights to watch the game.

Two, it has to be the apparel of a player that is not in plainclothes on the bench. They can even no longer be a Celtic, but they can't be on the bench. I learned this the hard way from Game 1 in Chicago, and Game 1 against Orlando. Don't wear KG jersey until he suits up. I got KG, PP, and a Glen Davis jersey T-shirt.

Three, I have one very special jersey. It was the jersey I bought at the first home game I ever went to in Boston. I bought it in 2006, and its an Al Jefferson #7. It laid on my floor for the whole summer of 2007, and in that time it was stepped on, spilled on, and peed on (by my dog). I only wear this jersey (which I have washed..but no detergent. Just water, by its self. Keeps the mojo in and the stinky out) when we gotta have it. I've learned that you cannot just wear it for every game. You gotta wear the gotta have it jersey only when you gotta have it. I learned this during the finals last season. So, I wore it games 2 and 7 against chicago, and I wore it games 2 and 5 against Orlando.

So thats my superstition. Did my own mojo affect the outcome of the game last night? I dunno. Prove that it didn't.

Last season I had a "lucky" shirt and they won every game when I was wearing it, but I let it go, kind of silly.

Overall, I don't shave during the playoffs (but it's hard because of work). Otherwise, I have some Celtic shirts that I rotate depending of what is happening in the court. I take a few showers during the game when I get a feeling that a shower is needed (plus it relexes me). And when things don't look good, I simply get naked. Yes, that right, that comeback last night was because of my nakedness.

I wear my Ray Allen jersey, because when I'm wearing Pierce's jersey he has horrible games. sometimes ill wear Bird but only when its absolutely necessary. But once the game starts, I wont eat or drink anything. Not a sip of water not a bite of a chip. That rule really sucked during the bulls series with all the over times. Last night if they lost I was going to start eating during games, so After last night I will have to continue to starve.
"Sam Cassell was heckling on the sideline when I walked down, He looked at me and was like, ‘You're getting the ball, I know you're getting the ball!'
said Allen.

And did Cassell, a man of many words, have anything to say after that?

"No, I told him he needed to wear a tie."

For some strange reason, I realize i have to stray away from wearing anything green...

In the 2007 NBA Draft, I wore my Celtics 34 practice jersey for a lucky charm in the hope of getting a top 2 pick....We ended up with the worsed possible pick.

Just this yr on the final regular season game against Cleveland, I wore the same jersey( I did not believe that wearing this jersey was the reason we got the 5th pick) In the hope of stopping Cleveland's streak of home game wins and tying the 40-1 '86 Celtics...I watched the game and was so disgusted at the result coz we got blown out I made a promise never to waer that jersey ever again specially in the Playoffs.

I wore my green shirt with a small green lantern logo in front of the shirt in the C's game 3 against Orlando and once again we got blown out by the Magic..( I then realize I would stop wearing anything green during this playoffs and we did win game's 4 and 5 by a hairline.)

Mine is remaining positive.  Looking for signs of weakness in the opponent and positive signs for the C's and embracing them as solid reasons why we can win the game.

Yup

Lately I've been dawning my green mock-turtle neck golf shirt. It's comfy, it's bright green, and we're 4-0 this postseason when I"m wearing it. So sorry Indeed, but last night's W was all me lol ;D

My girlfriend makes me say something positive in my head seven times in a row during the game to manifest a win.  I usually just say "Celtics will win!".  She says I have to do it seven times because seven is my favorite number.  I got lucky with that because her favorite number is thirty-three!.  So when I see her counting on her fingers, I smile, and I know it is time to do it my seven times :)

I sit on the same spot all the time. If my six year old is with me, he has to stay within his spot.

Before the game, I play NBA Live 09 against someone online, I have to win that game before I even turn to the realgame.

My wife is not allowed in the living room. I love her, but she's bad luck.

During timeouts I play Word Mole on my Blackberry Bold. I don't stop until the ball is thrown in bounds. If my son is with me, he has to be playing a game on his ipod touch during timeouts.

During halftime, I change the channel and avoid halftime shows, I look at the clock and switch back after 18 minutes. All this time, I'm still playing word mole on my blackberry bold.

I have to have my Celtics Tshirts on, i have a old ratty paul one, a rondo one, and a ray one. I pick by who i think needs the biggest lift.

I have to have a 6 pack of Red Irish from sam adams on hand to drink for Red's memory during the game. on the off chance the store is sold out, killingtons irish red is acceptable.

I have to have a cigar ( i don't smoke other than this one vice) on hand for all potential series clinching games, which i will then go out on the porch and enjoy if we close it out.

I want to add that I am nervous about Game 6. We are win less in the series whenever ESPN covers the games. Undefeated when TNT does it. Thank goodness game 7 will be covered by TNT (if necessary).

Sometimes it takes a while to narrow things down, but I think that my not wearing green on gamedays is working.
