Van Gundy got out coached. . . actually, he's just dumb.

No one on the Celts can stop Rashard Lewis.  He had no points in the 4th. I remember no plays run for him.

Dumb

  • The good ole days.
Is there a reason Howard was on the floor at the end there when he got sent to the line?  Could they have not removed him, knowing the C's would instantly foul, then insert him back after the 1st free throw attempt?

I guess he's a good safety valve if you can't get the pass in (KG served as such quite often in Minny... just throw it up high and let him go get it) but that's got to be a pretty dire option with how bad he shoots the freebies.

Actually thought it was a rub play off him. Throw him the ball and have Hedo or Lewis come around, grab and shoot.

Celts did the right thing by fouling right away.

van gundy might be the worst coach in the league, nevermind the playoffs. hedo isn't the answer, you dope. give it to lewis and throw the rock down low to howard. it's not rocket science. shaq is right about this clown.

Gotcha, I was only watching the box score so wasn't sure how it went down.

It definitely wasn't a play. Howard was the last option before 5 seconds was called.

I agree that he is just a bad coach.  He's an annoying little gnat that must get on the player's nerves, and his X's and O's leave plenty to be desired.

Rashard Lewis should've gotten 30 touches in the fourth quarter, he couldn't stop him.  They never go to Dwight Howard down the stretch like they should.  They brought this up during the game, when Doc called a TO he ran a perfect play to get Ray the free throws.  When SVG called one the players were confused about what they were doing and they ran an awful play.

Say what you want about Doc, but he has been as asset over both other coaches we have faced so far this playoff season.  And he learns from his mistake, finally deciding to foul at the end when we're up by 3.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

I did, I put up this fanpost as soon as the game was over:

I don't think it's fair to blame him for Rashard Lewis lack of scoring prowess though. He's just not a volume scorer, he doesn't have the mentality of a go to guy.

I'm blaming SVG.  Got to run some plays with him.

This is where they miss Jameer.  Key buckets, getting guys with the advantage the ball.

Van Gundy is just not a very good coach. Let's see what he did wrong:

1.) Left Howard in for the pass in at the end that Howard ended up having to get.
2.) He just doesn't get that Courtney Lee should be his starting SG. That's just dumb.
3.) He rides Hedo into the ground by never taking him out in the 4th and then runs plays for him at the end of the fourth when he's dead tired playing against a rested Pierce.
4.) His big/twin towers lineup worked great because the Celtics just can't defend it yet when it mattered he went to matchups against the C's smaller team late.
5.) His use of timeouts and when to take them and when not to is horrendous.
6.) He still hasn't figured out that every moment in this series where the Magic go to the paint, they dominate, and when they start chucking up threes, the C's dominate. After four full games you would have thought that would have sunk in by now.

shaq is a prophet, he called this one wha, three months ago?

Stan is getting riped for his "yea, down the stretch we played diffrently...i dont know what happened" on espn.

I mean, you don't know what happened? your the head coach....you have to get your team back on level ground, not run iso's for hedo for 8 minutes while the shot clock ticks down.

Yeah was about to comment about that aswell, Dwight took an abnormaly long time to actualy get to the post game press and when he did boy did he let SVG have it.
