All we hear is his shooting woes, but thats only half of his game. On defense, Marbury is shutting down whoever he is guarding. What's more impressive about Marbury is his ability to keep the bigger Hedo Turkoglu in check. In my wildest dream I never thought Marbury would be a valuable asset defensively, Glad I'm Wrong. Meanwhile Rondo's poke a hoe strategy earned him NBA All-Defensive Second Team, yet he still can't keep his man in front of him.

In 2nHalf months, Marbury has managed to surpass our expectations defensively. In my opinion the + outweighs the - with Marbury. I'm still hoping he can step up like BBD did and hit a big shot 4 us, but 4 now the defense intensity is fun to watch.

Let´s just hope Doc thinks the same and awards him more minutes. Not many players left to put in the game.

His D has been a pleasant surprise, as well as how he's been character wise. I think he's providing decent backup pg minutes. If he could only hit his jumper. I know he's putting in the practice, but it would totally open up his game and help the rest of the team when he's in there, if Orlando couldn't sag so far off him like they're doing. Still a lot of postseason to go possibly (hopefully), so you never know when his shot will come around. Again, I do commend him on his defensive effort, selflessness, and ubuntu :)

Marbury really loves this team so he is having a good time. I honestly believe his shooting woes have to do with being rusty and coming off the bench. He has said coming off the bench is the hardest thing to adjust to. He is probably having a bit more difficulty getting into the flow of the game. Since 96' he has been doing his shoot around, waited for the jump ball, then got going.

He would have benefited a lot from a spring training with the team.

Definitely, Marbury makes efforts to fight around the top of the screens that not even Rondo makes that effort.

It scares me that i am now seriously considering if marbury could keep up this bizzaro version of himself were he gives defensive effort, passes, and is a good selfless teamate, and wondering what he would cost to bring back as our backup PG for 10-15 minutes a night next year.

because i have always hated steph and how he represent's everything i don't like about basketball, and the PG position in general (selfish, no defensive effort, looks for his first to the detriment of the other 4 players) and pro athletes...and now he's gone and done this to me.

Im....im so confused....marbury....not cancer...trying on defense...pa..passing off dribble penetration?

the end is nigh!!!

any other guys who didn't want him for anything other than the 3 months left now having second thoughts with what he's showed?

I wonder how much better rondo would be at the end of the game if marbury would get a little more burn in the third quarter rondo doesn't lookas fresh on D as he did last series - could be legs, or maybe not taking the competition serious enough (he is heralded about his ability to step up).

Marbury has been hustling on D and looked good on the drive and dish as well.

Yup.  I agree with everything you said.  He seems like a great team guy now he is even talking the talk.  If he were able to stay with the team and get some practice and a season under his belt I think he would be a great addition.  I really hope he doesn't see a big contract in his future if he doesn't I don't think I would mind him coming back.

His effort on D and his unselfishness have been great ... almost to a fault on the unselfishness.

And more than just hustling, I think Marbury applies full court pressure more often than Rondo.

Your comment about tired legs does reminds me... there's no reason why a 23 year old would have tired legs, but I keep forgetting that Rondo's a guy who re-sprained his ankle every week or so for the past two months. I'm sure the cast or whatever they have on his ankles (his socks do look stuffed) must affect him somehow..

I'm trying to juggle baseball with the NBA postseason give me a break.

But I never understood the selfishness quip people like to give Marbury. The dude almost averages 8 assists a game for his career and he played with some AWFUL teams. Who else did you want shooting the ball on the Knicks and Nets? He was the best scorer, period.

i think it has more to do with the way he conducted himself in the press and how he pretty much demanded as much money as KG or he was not going to play for the timberwolves, which came to pass.

Steph has been a bad egg his entire career. i am enjoying this bizzaro version of him, but lets not try to make him out as misunderstood.

I love Steph's contribution off the bench, the only problem with him is his shot, which is not falling.

But I'd take his defense over Rondo's anytime (at least with the way Rondo plays defense in this series).

What else did the Media tell you about Marbury.

Because he never demanded as much money as KG. That is a lie. He told them he was not going to resign because he did not want to spend his career in Minnesota or live there, so they wouldn't be left without a PG. So Minnesota traded him to get a point guard.

ok, your right, clearly steph is like godzilla. He's never been a bad teamate, never threatned his coach, never complained about minutes, never made an ass of himself in interviews. I have misunderstood him for 12 years, all he wanted was my love!

I see now, He is in fact a saint, and i have completly misunderstood him. I apologize to steph for ever doubting the vast media consipracy against him. none of his troubles the previous 12 years have been in an way his fault.

I only hope he can one day forgive this simple, flawed mortal.
