Don't know if any of you watched the Rockets open a can on the Lakers this afternoon, but Battier was tremendous - offensively and defensively.

I love his effort, night in and night out. He can play for me any day. Shane Battier is a pro.

Very underrated defensively, Kobe on the other hand, is very overrated defensively. It should be Battier on the 1st NBA Defensive team instead of Kobe.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

Well, second All-Defense team isn't exactly underrated. Agreed on Kobe though, his defense really is overrated.

Not bad for a Dukie!!!!

Actually, I always have been a Shane Battier fan. Him, Chuck Hayes, and Scottie Brooks all stepped up huge for the Lakers. The Lakers do have a historical mental block against this team in the play-offs (1981 and 1986 come to mind). I still think the Lakers will advance but the Rockets will make them earn it in SEVEN plus give George Karl an extra week and three games to prepare for the Lakers.  Extra playoff games contribute to attrition even for a team as deep as the Lakers.

I think the 1st team this year is full of mediocre defenders and KG who is hurt. I'd take that 2nd team over the 1st.

I hate Duke but I do make an exception for him.  Great defender, solid spot shooter, great guy.  I've always thought he would look awesome in green.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

I really like Battier too.  I'd love to have him on the Celtics.  Great attitude.  Great hustle.  Good defender.  What's not to like?

Coach I don't always agree with you but I'll definitely have your back 24/7 when it comes to Shane Battier. I would absolutely LOVE to see him on the Celtics. I've never liked Duke players for the most part but he has always been one of the few exception. He's smart. He thinks the game. He hustles. He's tough. Like KG, he just strikes me as the kind of guy who once he became a Celtic would act as if he's been here his entire career.

Aaron Brooks and yes he was terrific. 34 for him.

Wow there is a lot of love in the room tonight. Where was the love for the last 2 loses? Battier played a combined 77 minutes for a grand total of 12 pts and 9 reb 10 assists and 2 stl. For the season Battier only avg 7.3 pts a game, I'll pass. I'm not saying he isn't a decent player but that he just an average player.

Wade should be ahead of Kobe also
