Seriously, I've never seen a path so paved for two teams. Orlando and Boston were the two contending teams in the East and Jameer Nelson and KG are struck down. The Spurs and Rockets, both contending teams in the West lose Ginobili and Yao. The Cavs somehow go unscathed and the Lakers although loosing Bynum in the regular season will have time to work him back by the time they reach the Finals. Even through our run last year, we had to deal with injuries to Pierce, Rondo, and Perkins. I'm not wishing for any injuries to the Cavs or the Lakers but their run of good luck when compared to the rest of the teams just takes something away from the playoffs this year for me. Its definitely a watered down pool of teams. If the Cavs beat the C's (assuming we get that far), at least they won't have the satisfaction of beating us at our very best.
I dont understand why people are choosing to downplay the successes this year of both the Cavs and Lakers.
Both teams have fantastic balance, and the Cavs in particular, have impressed me very much.
People say that these teams - especially their 2 gun players - get preferential treatment. This perhaps could be the case with Kobe and Lebron, but in all honesty, i believe both teams would make the finals regardless of other teams injuries.
Us at full strength this year would still be no matchup for either team. Our bench play stinks, and this has been evident to many of us throughout the year. We would more than likely be beaten in 5-6 by both the Fakers and Crabs.
They do deserve credit and acknowledgment of fantastic play, and victory for either would be well-earned.
