Quote from:  Myself on the video description
Perkins' elbow to Pietrus' throat will be reviewed by the league, but the NBA should review this play too : an Howard's shove on Perkins which happened seconds before the elbow. The referee sees the shove but doesn't call a foul on Howard, probably because at this point of the game he already has 4 fouls.

According to Chris Sheridan from ESPN : "One member of the Celtics complained privately that what got Perkins riled up was being pulled to the floor by Dwight Howard on the previous possession without a foul being called, with referee Scott Foster gesturing at Perkins to get off the floor and get downcourt."

Perkins doesn't deserve to be suspended because his elbow was not intentional and happened during a basketball play.

Please understand that this video was not made to complain about the referees or the game's result (the Celtics had no chance of winning this game with the way they played and the way the Magic played) but I think it's fair to show that Howard knows about intentional elbows which he usually makes after made shots (like the one against Dalembert in the first round that earned him a suspension ).

Edit : since I overreacted to this play which was not worth a shove, I decided to delete the video. :P

Nothing serious at all. Just a little push. Perkins barely moved. You see that happen on almost every box-out possession. Not a big deal.

I'm not saying that Howard should be suspended for this play, but I was amazed to see that the referee sees it and doesn't call a foul, because even though it's not a shocking "move", it's not allowed by the rules if I'm not mistaken. ???

That's the key. It's unfortunate that you have to flop in order to get the call/ make it a big deal. But everyone knows Perkules can not be moved.  :)

  • Yup
Howard was bailed out on a couple of no brainer illegal screen call last night.  Twice that I saw there was a call on the Celtics away from Howard just before he would have been whistled.
Yup
