I get the impression that in the rough and tumble NBA the C's are especially blessed with good guys from Wyc to Danny to Doc to players like Leon and Kendrick. Even our supposed reformed 'bad boy', Mr. Marbury has taken an admirable stand with his affordable sneakers, etc., business. Such good people and actions should be celebrated.
Generally agree with this statement, the Celtics do seem to have a lot of good guys. But I think that I feel that way about a lot of teams in the NBA.
Doc, while media-friendly and seemingly nice, is still a terrible coach. He is a decent motivator but his sub patterns, strategy, and play-calling are awful.
Also the team of "good guys" idea is another reason that Tony Allen doesn't fit in.
Doc bashing??? Wait I thought we got over that when the Celtics won banner 17. I think without question he's as good as half of the head coaches in the NBA today.
Did the Celtics win the title despite Doc?
When we got hammered by injuries, did the current team throw the season away? No. We won with a team mostly populated with scrubs.
We won a freakin title less than a year ago!!! Doc might have had something to do with the chemistry of that team.
The substitutions look bad this year because we are bringing NBA flotsam and jetsam off the bench.
Doc is a really good guy and a descent coach. Heck the most important trait a coach in the NBA can have is to know how to manage people and build chemistry. Very few can do that.
