I doubt it.

IF you suspend ron for jawing at kobe, then you have to suspend kobe for his blatant elbow to the throat that touched off the whole incident and wasen't even called for a foul.

Since kobe is a superstar, I imagine the NBA will try to sweep that under the rug as soon as possable (kudo's to the NBA if im wrong, no question kobe SHOULD be suspended.)

it will be an intersting day. alston deserve's a suspension, by the "zero tolerance" policy they are setting, but if you do suspend him (i expect they will) you HAVE to suspend bryant. his was much worse and could have seriosly injured arrtest.

The only way i can see them trying to save kobe and keep with the elbow precedent they just set on howard is to say it was "incidental" which would look preposterus.

Fun day to follow the NBA front office lol.

the thing is fisher got tossed. the league sometimes considers that your suspension.

thats rafer's problem, If he had gotten tossed, no way do they give him game 3 off.

Kobe on the other hand....it will be intersting. by the standereds the've established, kobe deserves a suspension. but will he get one?

No chance Artest is suspended.  Decent chance Fisher gets suspended, though as others have said the league may consider his ejection to be time served.

Kobe is the interesting case since he deliberately threw an elbow that connected to Artest's throat.  By the letter of the rules it's an ejection, which means it should be a suspension since it was missed.  It'll take some major cojones at the league office to do this though.  Really interested to see how this one plays out.

I don't think Kobe intentionally threw an elbow.  He was aggressively jockeying for position for rebound.  In the course of basketball play he happened to hit Artest.   I think many people are over reacting to the leagues rule on elbows.  It's not designed to stop basketball playes, it's primarily about action away from the ball.

If "throwing" elbows is explicitly outlawed, then every big man who rebounds the ball and fends off defenders should be getting tossed.  That's not what the league had in mind, imo.

Artest wasn't doing the knife cut thing.  He was showing that Kobe threw an elbow.  Look at the tape again and you'll see that he was just showing the refs that Kobe elbowed him.

I don't think Kobe will get suspended because as the previous poster mentioned, it could still be interpreted as a play on the ball.  If they started calling high elbows all the time then all big men will be suspended.  The difference with Howard was that it wasn't on the play of the ball and it had the intent to hurt someone.  However, the foul being called on Artest was a joke.

I think Kobe and Artest don't deserve to be suspended, but if you suspend Artest for his knife-cut gesture (hilarious by the way ) you should suspend Kobe for this elbow too because this is what started the whole ejection story and it's not very clear whether it's intentional or not.

I am just tired of seeing players suspended/fined/thrown out for getting punched and not just taking it, if someone hits you you should be allowed to react without being penalized.

If they suspend him it will be a travesty.  Yeah, he threw a temper tantrum, and earned a technical (although should not have been thrown out), but he did not even make physical contact with anyone.  He just complained to the ref, and then taunted Kobe.  If that deserves any more than a technical, then this league is going in the wrong direction.

No, he didn't wind up, and didn't take a swing at all. It probably wasn't above the shoulders, but it was quite hard and quite deliberate.

I didn't interprit Ron-Ron's "gesture" to be a "knife cut-throat" thing at all. I simply thought Ron Ron was imitating TO KOBE what Kobe just did to him. I felt like it was Ron's way of showing Kobe the act that was just committed on him. I'm sorry, but Ron Artest is in the right for once in his life.
